Hi everyone! I just recently opened a small yoga studio on Lomas between 8th & 11th called Mariah Yoga & Meditation. We teach old school yoga, the kind where you meditate during the poses. It seems in this day and age what people are wanting is more gym-style yoga, with music and any other type of distraction imaginable. They feel like they've had a spiritual experience afterwards, but from what I wonder. Just from going through the poses? If your mind's constantly distracted from the yoga, what's spiritual about it? Doesn't the word yoga mean unification of mind and body? And do you guys out there think it's possible to offer meditative yoga that people will actually show up for, without all the bells and whistles? I would LOVE to hear your comments.
