hi, anyone know of any services available that provides for light housekeeping and assistance with grocery shopping. i no longer drive.  i will be moving to albuquerque and am researching available resources for people who are mobility challenged. any information would be great. thank you

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a place to live for my mother. She has a mental health disorder and recieves ssi/ssdi/medicare. she is somewhat independent,however needs help with very little activites like reminder of meds. she does NOT want to live independently. She cant live with me, we have tried this many times and I am already taking care of a disabled child. I was looking for board and care, or residential care, or something where she is getting some help. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

I thought this would be a good opportunity for a young lady who is wheel chair bound.

Dear Adaptive Ski Program,

I am working with the Extras Casting department on a
Disney movie to shoot here in Albuquerque called "Lemonade
Mouth." Our directors are looking for a local girl to
play a role of a girl named "Alex" who works with the high
school newspaper and is wheelchair bound. They really
want someone who is actively using a wheelchair rather
than just putting an actress in a wheelchair. Would you
possibly be able to put me in contact with anyone who you
think might be interested? We are of course on a time
schedule and I would like to show pictures to the Director
as soon as possible. Again what I'm looking for is:

An 18 year old (or a very young looking 19 year old) girl
who is wheelchair bound

She must have open availability over the next 6 weeks as
we don't have a locked schedule yet and our schedules can
change at a
moment's notice

This is not a speaking role but is a very featured extra
role, and is a paid position.

There are lots of programs here in the Duke City for people are covered under medicaid. Medicaid PCO programs serve as assistance with daily living for those who are eligible. Your family members can get paid to care for you if you are under an eligible category of Medicaid for these type of programs. If anyone would like more information, please shoot me a message.

Hello:

Thank you Carmen for starting this group.Albuquerque was mentioned in one study in the ninties as one of the top 10 cities for the disabled. The good weather and transportation were two positive factors. Yet there remains much to be done so it's good to have this forum.

Hi Everyone! I am a disabled Woman Veteran with a ton of different illnesses. I wanted to start this group because I know how frustrating being handicapped / disabled is. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia; mild congestive heart failure; a racing heart ( atrial fibulation); type 2 diabetes; obesity; shortness of breath; I'm on oxygen 24 / 7; PTSD - MST; and MAJOR depression; plus a lot more. Just can't think of all them right now. I just turned 62 a few weeks ago. I would love to get to know you better.
