I think 2 or maybe even up to 7 little goats in a large albuquerque backyard makes sense for those who are interested.  Being vegans, their poop is fantastic fertilizer and odor free.  They eat…Continue

I'd be happy to Mindy.  I'm near Wyoming & I-40 (not far from UNM) just up Lomas if that's where you're going to school.

Hi, I'm going to be making a short film through my college and a goat has a central part in it. Would anyone be interested in giving me a tour of your goats, giving me an idea about their behavior and possibly having your goat star in my film? I've made films before, but none of them had a goat :) I live in the Foothills area of Albuquerque and can come visit at your convenience. Thanks for your help, consideration and tips in advance. Mindy

Yes, castrated males.  I have no specific questions... yet.  I just wanted to know if anyone has tips, advice, or anything to offer that we may not know about since we're completely new to this.  They are so friggin cute!  We love them and our toddlers do too.

That's great Kelli. What specific questions do you have? Are these castrated males?

Zuni1970 have you considered some of the mini breeds?  That's where folks take a standard goat(Nubian, Alpine, La Mancha, Oberhasli etc.) and breed to a Nigerian buck  to get a Mini.  They usually milk more like their full sized dams but are closer in size to and  eat more like their Nigerian side!   I personally don't breed them but have had several folks who have standard does use my Nigie buck to make mini's so I could point you in the right direction depending on which breed you want (I know 2 mini Nubian breeders, 2 Mini LaMancha, 1 Mini Ob here and one in Aztec)I do breed (and know about 4 other folks) Nigerians which are under about 2 ft tall for Milking stock.  I have milk records on some of my girls, their dams etc. and know several other folks who do also.

Yes, I think it's legal as long as you have 4000 square feel of open roaming space (fenced of course).  We are at the bottom of a cul-de-sac so we have an unusually large backyard (it even has a 2 car garage in the middle of it) so we *think* it's legal for us to have 2 small goats.
We are going to have to fence off our gardens though.... LOL!

Kellie, is that legal in the city?

we just had our first babies of the year and have two adorable boys who will be for sale as wethers. They are brothers and are 1/2 bottle raised and 1/2 dam raised.  They are about 1 1/2 weeks old and we are looking for a good pet home for them. One is light chocolate with blue eyes and the other one is dark chocolate with brown eyes.  Both are curious, friendly, playful boys.  Asking $100 for the pair.  They will be ready to go in about 6 weeks unless you want to bottle feed them!!!!  IF you know of anyone looking for pet wethers they are welcome to email me at

We just got 2 male baby pigmy/Nigerian mini-goats this past weekend from a place in Edgewood.  They are roaming in our backyard near Wyoming & I-40 as we speak.  If anyone has any tips or advice for us please let us know (we're pretty much CLUELESS about everything).  We'd also like to get chickens too.  Can they co-mingle?

My name is Michael and I'm the Youth urban farming Cooridinator for a program called Cycles of Life. I'm looking for some one in need of help in the ABQ area. Very very interested in learning about goats and helping any goat keepers. If you feel that you are someone that is in need of help, feel free to contact me. Thanks
