Albuquerque Gallery Map

This map shows all of the Albuquerque galleries that I could think of but it's nowhere near complete. I've left it open for editing by anyone so if you see an error or omission, go ahead and fix it! Here's how:
*Click on ‘view larger map’
*Pick ‘search the map’ to enter an address or ‘find a business’ to enter a business name.
*When you see the correct address or business click ‘save to my map’ then ‘save’ at the prompts.

Be sure to make it to Coleman Contemporary Art to see - Sightseeing.
The sculptures are GREAT - very whimsical and charming. And the paintings by (Yours Truly - Will Johnson) are wild!!!
Then go down the road and eat at Thai Orchid - the flavors will rock your world!!
Love, Will

Albuquerque makes the top 25 list of Arts Destinations (again). Frankly, I didn't expect it this year because we were moved to the Large Cities category (population 500,000+). Ranked 2nd last year among mid-sized cities - we dropped to 7 this year but that's with competition from NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, etc. Santa Fe was 1 among small cities and Taos was number 5. I think this makes quite a story for New Mexico. Now, let's aim to get back toward the top of the list in 2009. Read it all at http://www.americanstyle.com

In conversations with people who say that Albuquerque has no art scene - I have come to understand that what they are referring to is the fact that we don't have the collector dollars. We have wonderful artists - great galleries - but everyone is struggling to survive because the big money doesn't come here (at least not for our art). We have no one to blame but us (and that is a big collective US including city government and local business). Let's put some of our creativity to work coming up with a plan to get the word out to the world that Albuquerque is the place to buy art. The number of galleries would grow, artists would actually be able to make a living by showing here, perhaps art would reappear in the public schools. The potential is unlimited.
