Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

This is a call for our new intern! We are looking for someone who is a jack of all trades willing to learn more! We need someone who can do 20 hours a week to start with. This would be a trial basis with no pay but trade work to begin with but then it would become a part time job if you're good enough.
All right, its about that time again when we need to find some extra help for the upcoming year. We are looking for an intern/ personal assistant. The 2009 year is going to be a great year for the Black Market, we have all sorts of shows coming, we're going to set up a monthly sketch jam, working at our permanent home, fund raising for our Japan show and then going to Japan if all goes well.
So we need someone who can help us achieve our goals. This person should have an understanding of art, fashion, photography and modeling. And you should have an understanding of that from both sides of the looking glass; as a spectator you know what you like and as an organizer you know what you want. All these are vital because we do all of it at every show and you're gonna help us.
This would entail helping out with everything. If we are doing a show:
If Mia needs help with make up then you need to be able to know what and where to find it.
If Evan needs a memory card, you need to know what kind.
And if suddenly Allistair has lost his limbs in a horrible Brazilian Jujitsu accident you need to be able to push the print button for him.
If Josh needs a beer, you need to be at least 21 and have a car.
But seriously, there will be a lot of run around and stuff that i can not even begin to imagine. One show i needed a beer tap, bananas, a folding chair and a kiddy pool. All unrelated but that's our grocery list sometimes.
Our requirements besides the general knowledge of what was mentioned:
Fairly open schedule
Show weekends are a must
Sense of organization, scheduling and multi-tasking.
Some experience in programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Corel would be nice but not required.
A vehicle to get around. Gas will be compensated.
Good communication skills cuz sometimes you got to do the talking for us. You will meet people at shows that we are unable to talk to so it will be you acting as one of our representatives. You won't handle the whole work load alone but you will help us maintain a less stressful workplace. And don't tell them we beat you, the last intern had to find out why the hard way. Which reminds me we need more phone books and a sack of oranges.
We will have an application process up soon so stay tuned and think it over. You will have 5 bosses. We're not helpless but sometimes we need that extra person. Especially at the shows.
So if you're looking for a learning enviroment with a laid back idea of work but strong customer service ethics then we just might be the place for you. You can learn some graphic design from Allistair the Great-his birth name, photography from Evan the Moore, fashion show coordination from Mia the Amazing and i guess practice some Halo with Josh the "Ok to All right" Jones! Best in his weight class. But seriously i do screenprinting, vinyl signs, art, comics, i can probably teach you some fighting moves but if any of that interests you then you could find a home with us.
Evan Moore will be at the gallery Thursday the 5th and I will be at the gallery at Friday March 6th if you would like to meet us and talk some shop. Of course i will be a little busy with show set up so it would be a quick chat. But feel free to come to the show and check out what we do. And if you're wondering why it's unpaid, well we want commitment, i've been hurt before. And i may or may not ever love again.

Not really, its an internship. UNM and other schools have valid programs where they can sign up and get credit for stuff like this that pertains to their education. Any company can sign up as long as their committee deems it educational. Not that I'm looking for an argument but yeah i know what you're talking about but if you got advice we are always open to conversation.

Hey, its like... JUNE. You guys arn't still looking for an intern ars'ya? 'Cause all that stuff you mentioned... I can totally do, lol. I am desperately trying to get into the art scene, but I hate hanging out with old people all day who do nothing but paint the sunrise and f'n cottonwood trees (though they are very beautiful). I'm especially interested in mentoring under you and learning what you know. I am a very hard worker. Right now I am working on campus at Faculty Contracts, and have been doing so since I was a Freshman (I am now a Senior... AKA, nowhere close to getting a degree)You don't seem to have any updates on this topic... soooo, let me know, please. My email is rlandry@unm.edu, or you can call me. Even if I can't do your internship. I'd like to get to know you guys and your little organization.
