I found something interesting on Google Earth!  While looking at the region in GE where the small foothills fire was on Saturday,   I see semis in the trailhead parking lot and a few big trucks on a nearby street. and I figured out it was the street where Br Ba filmed Hank and Marie's house scenes.  Sure enough, it appears that they were filming at that location the day the image was snapped for GE and at the house you can see lots of shadows of humans - presumably all the crew and actors.

Chicken Little was right. My cable provider has dropped AMC because they didn't like the newest pricing. Which means they wanted it for free. I grew up in Albuquerque and have been watching BB since the first episode. It didn't take me long to figure out that this was made in Albuquerque. In the Gertrude Sachary Jewelry scene, the building directly west on the southwest corner is the 1940/50 Ford Agency. And there was a firestation across the street and a block west. I was hoping that a large piece of the mid-air collision would fall in the middle of that butt-ugly Aztec. Putting that spare tire on was brilliant. I had guessed that Walt's home was east of Eubank and north of Menaul. What are the chances that a home in that area would have a crawl space? I have been following Duke City Fix for about a year but just found this site. I hope that my cable provider can work out a deal with AMC, but Bill Calahan and Steve Peterson won't be back in Lincoln and I don't expect to see BB this season although some retiring farmer flush with the sale of $5.00 corn might take a liking to my home and then I could return to where I grew up. I thought New Mexico was a backward state when I was growing up but having lived in Nebraska the last eleven years---well,just let it go DG.

Did anybody else catch Santiago Carrillo's op-ed in today's Albuquerque Journal about how off the Burque mark Breaking Bad is? Sr. Carrillo doesn't take issue with the show's highlighting our fair city as meth central, but rather that it does not accurately portray how loving and racially harmonious the Duke City is and that for him the show conveys the look, feel, and talk of LA. He particularly objects to the use of the word "beaner" and states that no Albuquerque law enforcement officer or even anybody "Duke City born and bred would ever be capable of such degrading behavior." Admittedly, I've seldom heard one of our citizens use that particular word in the last 25 years I've lived here, but I've certainly heard quite a few less than racially sensitive terms here over the last quarter century. He calls on the producers, writers, and casting directors to incorporate more local talent, apparently unaware that BB employs a fair amount of local talent. (On a side note: Does Bryan Cranston qualify as "local talent" now that he has purchased a residence here?)
