So I have been doing some browsing and it kind of seems that the Critical Mass of Abq. is kinda in a recession.... How about a revival? Its MySpace page says the first Friday of every month, 5pm, at the duck pond on the UNM campus.
Anybody up for a ride tonight? Any news about a CM in Abq. that I'm not aware of?
I have class every other Friday afternoon, and just about every CM in the past six months has been on one of my class weekends. I saw the group last month, and there was a piddly dozen riders or so - stark contrast to the 150-200 riders we were getting last summer.
Hopefully there'll be a few more tonight, but I won't be able to join.
Well then I am looking forward to the "hundreds of people" days. Maybe moving it to 6pm tonight would help? 5pm seems super early when the sun is high in our New Mexico sky.
Hope to see you at the next one. To be honest, I am usually working so I rarely get to participate. I think there could be enough who wouldn't mind meeting two-three times a month . . . varying the days to get a variety of bikers.

There are plenty of clubs in ABQ of varying levels of formality. BiciAccion used to have weekly rides, and I think they still do. Find Julian the Bike Pirate on this site, and he'll tell you more.
I hate to say but I was pretty disappointed with the critical mass ride that I went on here in the 505. They rode up indian school to abq uptown... but it didnt really make much sense doing so as a "demonstration". We basically stayed in the bike lane, single file.... where's the "illegal demonstration" in that? Maybe I'm just a wild child, but if I was to organize a critical mass demonstration here, on a friday night, I'd head where the masses are (downtown, central, nob hill, rio grande, etc) not indian school and abq uptown.
They also rode pretty fast- but then again, I have a three speed million pound cruiser. If anyone goes and they decide to stick around the campus/nob hill/downtown area and actually demonstrate let me know, because I'd be down to go if it was a bit more demonstrative.
