Judy - Are they there year 'round?
They are there year round; however, they are harder to see in the winter. They have just started calling and engaging in pre-breeding behavior.
That's very cool. I'm not familiar with that area. Any particular trail you'd like to recommend for the Cactus Wrens?
We saw the first one along Trail #401 just north of main E - W Trail. The other four were along a diagonal trail that went south of the main trail. The diagonal trail is considerably west of the Foothills Trail #365. The map on the ABQ Open Space site, only gives the names of the main trails.
