I have not seen any on my feeders at my house.

Does anyone have any hummingbirds yet?

Have started to see some Spring birdies. Not a Kingbird yet, but did see a Meadowlark earlier today. Seems a little early for hummingbirds, but I like your optimism!

March 19, 2011: about 10am, on San Pasquale about 1/2 block south of Central, first heard then saw and photographed an adult male Kingbird way up on a phone wire.  Seeing him was unexpected, but maybe the early bird does indeed catch the worm -- or any flying insects out this early (I've seen moths and bees). Can hummingbirds be far behind?

Very nice show last night (Sunday, January 10, 2010) on Nature (PBS, channel 5 in Abq) all about Hummingbirds.

I'm with Bill...don't shop Wal-mart! My local feed-store carries 50# sacks of seed...and other sizes, as well. I've done a price-check...and believe it or not they compete with Wal-mart...or are less than a $1-a-bag-more!

Besides, most Wal-mart stores around here carry bags old people can carry in one hand; not 50-pounders! LOL

Baby birds ended up being baked in birdhouse.

So sad to report that the cutest sparrow babes who only Sun and Mon nites had their open beaks peeping thru the door hole were on the ground yesterday morn. The design of the tiny birdhouse had no ventilation - and I bet they were desperate to exit without means to get around. I am either going to drill holes in it or recycle the wood.

Thanks, Bill! I'll check my pictures for the tails. I have a good camera so can get close-up pics even though they sit high up, trying not to go all Hollywood and become famous birds. If I get a Cassin's, I'll send in a picture
