It has felt like I have been stuck in exile since moving to the NE heights. All I have been dreaming of has been good pizza. Last month those dreams were answered with the opening of Straight up pizza. It is located on Wyoming and Burlison dr Ne across from the Academy. They took over what use to be Woody's Sports cafe.

I first stopped by to grab a slice. I quickly found out they do not offer pizza by the slice. Instead they offered me a 10" pie with two toppings and a soda for $5.65. The best part is it took less then 10min to come out. I topped my 10" with bacon and roasted garlic. I took one bite and I am now straight up hooked. They also have a sweet lunch special. A 10" with 1 topping and a coke will run you less then $5.00. They offer free delivery all the way down to San Mateo. For delivery we have been ordering the 18" legit with 3 toppings for $12.99.

I started writing this post yesterday and since then I have tried their calzone. I ordered it with Pepperoni, Mushrooms and roasted garlic. Well.... It is one of the best calzones I have ever devoured I might give up pizza and just eat calzones. Except that their pizza is amazing. So If your in the neighborhood and want a wicked good Pie I highly recommend this little joint.

Update.

Sorry the pricing I had was during their soft opening. I went there for lunch again today and It 6.99 for 10" two topping with a drink. I also attached their menu.

Dude, those are obscenely low prices. How's the crust, sauce, etc? How do they compare to Scarpa's on Eubank and Montgomery?
What a bad time for me to be on a low carb diet!
Have to try it next "treat night" out. Thanks for the tip!
OMG, Coffee Freak, Thank you sooooo much for telling us about Straight up Pizza. That is the best pizza in the southwest. Linda is from back east and she said "It taste like the pizza at the old boardwalk at Salisbury beach, YUM."
We found our new pizza place, Linda is happy, and when Linda is happy, we all are, thanks.
My boys and I just devoured an 18" pepperoni & cheese. It was quite good.

There are two kinds of sauce, regular marinara and hot marinara. We got the regular, and it was still quite spicy (flavorful-spicy, not hot-spicy). Crust was super-thin in the middle and the edges were puffy and crisp with bits of perfectly melted and browned cheese. Not rubbery, but a good chewy crust. Toppings were good quality (although we just had pepperoni and cheese).

This is a good fold-in-half slice of pizza. Sprinkled on top with oregano and possibly another spice, and the overall blend of flavors and textures was well-done.

We'll be back.
Just got our menu up on the web site at straightuppizza.com
Stay hungry my friends...
