A few months ago my girlfriend and I changed the way we live in a nod towards better health and an effort to lose weight. At the top of my list of foods I gave up was pizza. Nine months and about 80 pounds later/lighter, we are re-introducing some healthy carbs back into our diets, so we've been in search of a good whole wheat pizza.

Last night we got a pie from DaVinci's Pizza (at Juan Tabo and Eubank just to the east of Horse and Angel Tavern). It was awesome! Whole wheat pizza is surprisingly difficult to find in this town. Anyone have any suggestions?

Saggio's has a "rosemary wheat" crust that they use on their awesome calzones . . . I'm not sure what the ratio of whole wheat to white is, but that's always a good question to ask when something is offered as "whole wheat."
Ron, that's awesome! Hubby and I have been doing Weight Watchers since May and are each about 40 lbs lighter (still have about 40 lbs to go). Not only do we look for healthy options when it comes to pizza crust, but hubby is lactose-intolerant. I get some really funny responses when I ask if the pizza place will make one without cheese (fortunately there's Giovanni's pummarola, which is cheeseless anyway). Our solution? I make my own dough with Bob's Red Mill whole wheat flour OR I buy the whole wheat dough in the refrigerator section of Trader Joe's. Hubby can have goat cheese, so I'll use either that or the Daiya stuff, which is vegan mozzarella that you can find at Whole Foods and the Co-Op (woo hoo! it actually melts!). Thanks for the DaVinci's tip; I'll see if they're willing to do cheeseless on a whole wheat crust!
I'm not sure if Golden Crown's crust is fully whole wheat, but it has some whole wheat & more texture than many.
Congratulations on the weight loss CRV! The DaVinci's pizza was really good. Even better, it's in walking distance from my place. Add on to the healthy lifestyle right? Thanks for the tip on the whole wheat flour and Trader Joe's. I will have to try to make my own pizza here at home too!
I LOVE Golden Crown pizza. I've always got it on the green chile dough though. Gotta check out the multigrain peasant dough next time.

Also, I hear that Village Pizza does a whole wheat crust as well. Yeah, I love Village Pizza too.
The wholegrain peasant dough at Golden Crown is GREAT...hearty and delicious. Further afield, the venerable Upper Crust Pizza in Santa Fe also does a tasty whole-wheat crust.
Congrats on your weight loss! That's quite an achievement.
I think that the Peasant Dough crust at Golden Crown is at least part whole wheat - it is much denser than most other pizza crust I've had locally. You might want to call them to get more information.
oops - should have read the other comments before I chimed in.
There's Boboli Whole Wheat Pizza crust from the grocery store -- I've gotten it at the Smith's at Carlisle and Constitution. It comes as an 8" thin crust or two 6" thicker ones, already baked, in a transparent plastic bag. Then you can put whatever you want on it.
I just saw that Mario's is saying they "now" have whole wheat pizza crust.

They are at San Pedro & Uptown, North Fourth, and maybe another location.
I second Village Pizza as some of the best pizza around. And I have had their wheat crust and it is fantastic.
So, what exactly did you change in your diet/lifestyle to lose so much weight?
