Duke City Fix

Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

What brings you here? Work, adorable housing, the stumble-distance of the bars, the brief stroll to the bosque (endlessly amazed by this medley of urban amenities and nature), or are you being held by gunpoint here, in a cardboard box in that creepy ally?

I manage four appartment buildings (52 units) at 12th and Iron. I enjoy living downtown! I am within walking distance from the bosque, downtown, Tingley Beach, the zoo, the Barelas Community Center, Tingley Park....I could go on & on!!

I have lived in a number of places in downtown Albuquerque since the late 1970's.
Here are a few of the reasons why I moved downtown to begin with and why I keep coming
back: (Cue Petula Clark song!)

-Tallest buildings in the state (I have loved tall buildings since I was a kid).
-The Kimo Theater.
-The neighborhoods with their tree-lined streets and old Victorian style houses.
-The sense of history I feel being in the heart of downtown Albuquerque and living so close to Old Town.
-Being close to the railroad makes me feel connected to the rest of the state and country.
-The zoo, Tingley Beach, the Rio Grande River and bosque.
-Panoramic views of the Mountains and west mesa.
-Being 5 minutes from the south valley, the north valley, the UNM area and Nob Hill.
-Being walking distance to the Main Library and the Downtown Growers Market.
-Events like Summerfest, We Art The People, Go Arts Festival, The Twinkle Light Parade.

I have enjoyed living in many other areas of Albuquerque, but I feel most at home downtown.
