The Harwood Art Center has two remaining plots available at the Wells Park/Sawmill Action Buzz Garden, a community garden space located on 8th Street two blocks north of Mountain Road. Plots are 4ft. X 8ft. and are rented for $25/season (March to November). However, if your household cannot afford the $25 fee, you may pay what is reasonable for your budget with a minimum contribution of $5.
If you are interested in gardening with us (there are 21 plots in total and a great, diverse group of gardeners) please contact Wade Patterson at the Harwood Art Center • 242-6367 ext. 119 or wade@harwoodartcenter.org You can learn more about the gardens by visiting the Harwood website: http://harwoodartcenter.org/ss/community-garden/
Absolutely. Other gardeners are very helpful and friendly and many are first-timers as well. We also have a Garden Manager who is there 5 hours a week and has lots of useful information. Lastly, I can also direct you to some helpful resources to get you up and running.
One of the positive and attractive elements of community gardening as compared to backyard gardening is this sharing of knowledge (not that I have anything against backyard gardening!!)
Let us know if you are interested and I can get you a registration packet.
Thanks for your interest!
