“Peacecraft Seeks Off Site Coordinator”
The offsite coordinator is charged with bringing the mission, vision and products of Peacecraft as well as the stories of our cooperatives to the wider New Mexican community. In many ways the coordinator must function as ambassador not only for Peacecraft but for our Fair Trade principles. This is accomplished through the organization and oversight of Peacecraft’s presence in a large variety of community events including a wide range of arts and crafts fairs as well as other community events. Additionally the offsite coordinator is responsible for arranging and managing a large number of Alternative Trade Fairs hosted at many area churches. The position tasks go beyond arranging and scheduling events and working out logistics of time and space related to offsite events. They also include orchestration of personnel including volunteer recruitment both from the Peacecraft volunteer pool and from host congregations. The position also includes organization and assistance with packing and transportation of products as well as managing set-up, off site display for events and publicity for the events within Peacecraft, the wider community and host congregations.
Necessary skills for the position would include strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to communicate and work well with a wide variety of people. This ranges from Peacecraft volunteers to community event organizers, political activists, and clergy and members of various faith communities. Ideal capabilities for the offsite coordinator include the ability to move boxes of merchandise, a flexible schedule especially on weekends, and the ability to staff events when volunteers may be scarce. First and foremost a dedication to Peacecraft and the mission of realizing the human dignity of each and every individual is an absolute must for this position.
