I'm not GF, but my Girlfriend is, so I can use all the info I can get!

I've been GF for about three years now. I was never officially diagnosed Celiac because I don't want to go back on the G-word for 6 months for the test. I've pretty much got the lifestyle down. I don't even think about it much anymore. There are very few things I miss, especially with Paisano's Restaurant nearby! GF Pizza?? GF Tiramisu??? Whoa.

I am excited to have found this group! I was diagnosed with Celiacs Disease almost three years ago and had to venture into the gluten free world without much knowledge. I am happy to share recipes and tips on how to live GF!

Now this is awesome! My son has Celiac and I always feel that he's the only one in the city with it. It's nice to see other faces!

You're right -- this is awesome! I've been GF for eight years, having been diagnosed with Celiac. My husband manages the Trader Joe's on Paseo. I'm happy that they have added a "G" to the product signs for gluten free products to make it a little easier for those of us who live GF to shop.

*gasp* I didn't know that! I'll have to check out Trader Joe's!

Hi all, I am new to the group. I was diagnosed with Celiac 4 1/2 years ago and my 5 year old was diagnosed in December 2008. I live, eat, and breathe Gluten-Free....mostly because my passion is cooking and baking and I am determined to make everything a 5 year old would love so my children dont have to feel left out. I am in the middle of taking a cake decorating class right now at the Specialty Shop (you should see me in my "protective gear", vinyl gloves, etc. to try and avoid being contaminated). I have mastered my own, from-scratch cake recipes....only need to know how to decorate...kids like more than just frosting!

Anyway...have you all been to R. Downs off of Montgomery b/w Louisiana and Pennsylvania in the Mossman Center? Dr. Downs has done an AMAZING job at stocking GF foods that you cant find at Whole Foods, TJ's or the Co-Op. I personally shop at all 4. Dr. Downs started carrying some bagels that have been all the rage in the Celiac community. They are from a company called "Joan's GF Great Bakes) out of NY. OMG.....it is a REAL Bagel!!! Crunchy Crust on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I literally cried. We eat them for breakfast, use them for sandwiches and even make little pizzas with them. Only catch...they are $13.99 for 6....yep, but they are so worth it, and we only have them on occasion. A special treat. Check them out!

Starbucks has a GF muffin as well. What I like most is that it is actually packaged so it doesn't get contaminated with all the other pastries they have in the shop. It's an orange/almond cake (or something close to that). It's actually very tasty. :)

I'll have to see what "Just Muffin Around" has as well... I wouldn't have guessed they had anything GF. Nice to know!
