Many reputable environmental experts say that the United States must cut its greenhouse gases by 80 percent in a very few years if we want to maintain a recognizable world. I set out to discover what that would mean for a family living in Albuquerque, and the result was the young adult-crossover novel, Freaking Green.
'Burque teenager Jasmine Hayward's goals include hanging with her friends, juggling two guys and grabbing the lead roles in her high school's drama production. XXXtreme carbon-cutting is nowhere on her list. Everything changes when her cash-strapped family has to cut their own carbon footprint by 80 percent to win an inheritance
Freaking Green is available at Bookworks in Albuquerque, on www.amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats and www.barnesandnoble.com. I'll be at Bookworks tonight, Oct.16, at 6pm at the Bookworks teen book club. The meeting is free and open to the public.
