The Professional Organizers of New Mexico (PONM) present Get Organized Month 2009 Shred-A-Thon on January 17, 2009. The public can get a head start on becoming more organized in 2009 by decluttering their homes and offices of shreddable items at no cost. The event is free and an effort to highlight Get Organized Month, an annual January event sponsored by the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) dedicated to raising the awareness of the benefits of organization and of hiring a professional organizer. The event is co-sponsored by K-Mart and Shred-It, a mobile document and media destruction service.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Southwest corner of the K-Mart parking lot at 2100 Carlisle NE (I-40 and Carlisle), Shred-It will have a mobile shredder on site for those interested in shredding paper as well as non-paper items like cancelled checks, folders and hanging files, CD-ROMs/CD-Rs/DVDs, computer backups, X-rays, videotapes, cassette tapes, and cardboard. These items do NOT need to have paper clips, staples, binder clips or file folder wires removed.

NO E-WASTE WILL BE ACCEPTED. The event organizers reserve the right to accept or reject any items. The event may be cancelled or postponed due to weather.

what will they do with the paper? Papercrete is a nice way to use recylced paper as a building materieal. It is a combination of paper and cement to create a lightweight durable block or wall.
