Hello, all. Well, I'm happy to say that after 6 years in "burque" I'm back home in Studio City California (10 days now). It's 72 with a slight coastal breeze. It's all lush green and the birds are happily singing outside. Mind you it's still dog-eat-dog, parking and traffic are just stupid and my tiny apartment is perversely high priced. But the food, fashion, sophistication, art, entertainment industry, cool cars, beach, public transit (bus/commuter train), etc. somehow make it worth it, for me, anyway. Cheers.

Moved here jul 08, coming on two years now. Love the weather, and NM skies! Am Santa Monica College and CSU-Los Angeles alumn. If it's one thing, though, I'd point out that I particularly like about ABQ is the lack of grafitti around town. There's something to be said for 'un-decorated' highways, i.e, Hwy 101, 4-level exchange... good grief!

For anyone who wants a little taste of the old days on the Sunset Strip- Circa late 80's. (If you squint, drink a lot, and don't go outside?) You may have heard of my friends "Cockpit"! Cockpit is an all female 80's metal style band that rocks out. Aaaaand... the drummer, Rachael Rine, is from here. There is the NM connection and why we hit it off when we met. She is a bartender at the famous Rainbow when they are not playing... where we met.

Anyway- they are stopping in Moriarty for a gig this Friday! As luck would have it that is one hour after I pick up my old publicist from the Hollywood days at the airport. So we are gonna "L.A. out" that night! Come one, come all to a dive off the highway. If only we could hit Canter's after the show!!! If it makes you feel better I can dump a shitload of fliers on the sidewalk in front of the club.

Did I mention it's FREE?

Thanks Ms. Malibu! Sounds good! Funny - a friend tried to convince me to see the B-Side Players in Taos and go snowboarding the same weekend. She said snowboarding is like surfing but in snow. I will do the B-Side Players but won't have anything to do with snow. I just can't believe that snowboarding could be anything like surfing in the beautiful ocean.

I was back home in L.A. about a month ago. Don't miss the craziness, though the 75-degree weather in the middle of winter makes it tempting to move back home, even if the economy sucks.

Marimar, we should hang sometime before I go. Compare cute shoes, how much we miss REAL mexican food, lament about not being able to smell the sea air, chic-ness, etc.

I am sooooo with you Malibu! I am so ready to get back to California. I am grateful for my time in NM but I could live without seeing snow again for the rest of my life. I want to get back to the weather, the ocean, the fresh eclectic organic foods, being able to grow hibiscus, bougainvilleas, etc... I can't wait to be able to find good shoes, more diversity, Mexican food from Mexico and so much more. Unfortunately, I will have to work here for at least a year or two more before I can go home.

Malibu is right. To sit on the veranda of Yamashiro at night and see Western Blvd go all the way to Palos Verdes is a rush

LCS, you've been here 25 years. I still have the pulse of LA in my blood. Regardless of the negatives, it's still "me" in every sense. You can take the girl out of LA but you can't take LA out of the girl. "Spago, anyone?" Frankly, I prefer Yamashiro. The view is spectacular.

I, too, may have a "second stay" here in ABQ when I retire, 'cause I'm headed back to LA.. It's been 6 years, 6 winters and I'm over it. I'm still too cute, albeit middle-aged, to be wrapped up in several bulky layers to ward off the cold. And I miss style and fashion too much. I don't consider cacti and chili peppers particularly fashionable. Not to say that I won't miss 'burque because she is wonderful in her own right. She gave me all I ever asked of her, and more.
