I'm probably a little outgunned here, as I still shoot with an Olympus C2100. I would love to get a new Nikon D300, but will probably end up getting a Nikon D40 in the meantime. As long as I can produce what I have in the past with the Oly though, I'm fine.

I'm shooting an Olympus E-510 digital, a Sigma SA 9 for film and a 5.1 mp Toshiba DC T50 as my main cameras. I will at some point ad a Mamiya or Fugi medium format with digtal and film backs.

At 12:03pm on November 29, 2008, Khan said… Hey LT, I'm a friend of Flo, Annie and a couple of other bellydancers here in town, followed your images here on DCF and Flickr for a while. In particular, check out the lower half of this message, I'd love your feedback on the idea!

Fellow NM Photographer!
Just a quick note to invite you to Karl Koenig's opening at the Inpost Art Space (at the Outpost Performance Space, 210 Yale SE) this coming Friday evening, 5-8. Karl is a talented photographer who makes images mostly of nature and architecture, the world round. The show will focus on his large format gumoil photographs, a process that he pioneered himself about 20 years ago. The prints are hand pigmented, resulting in amazingly vibrant photographs with a wondrous, almost catastrophic fairy tale quality. I find them highly affecting and unique.

My fellow curator Rob Thalmann and I plan to focus heavily on local photography during our 2 year term there at the Outpost, and this is just the tip of the iceberg for us. Maybe we could even do a DCF photographer's group show there?

Come see the show on the 5th!

For those interested in Karl's work (and thank you all so much for coming on Friday--it was good to meet so many of you, and Karl had a really good time talking to other photographers about it all!) and want to see more than what is up at the Inpost, he shows at both New Grounds Print Workshop (a couple of blocks east of Carlisle on Central) and at Sky Dog, I believe, down in Los Ranchos. (I haven't been to Sky Dog yet, so I can't give any more specific info, sorry!)

The real kicker with Karl's photography is that not only are his images well chosen and composed, but the process he goes through produces beautiful objects. A lot of photography is focused purely on image, and the idea of producing a beautiful print OF that image is often dropped. Karl picks it up!

Thanks again to everyone who came to the opening!
