I blissed out in some open space today and was so overwhelmed I came back and started this group before I'm really ready to do anything with it. Let's share info, feelings and photos about the mortar between our private islands. peace, mjh Open Space - City of Albuquerque www.cabq.gov/openspace/

Kayaking you can get some training thru UNM Continuing Ed to practice your skills and learn some. Go to www.nmparks.com and click on boating and then boating waters. Info on paddlesports and a great pretty complete list of the well known and lesser known lakes/reservoirs/ponds that you can stick a kayak on in this state.....links to water levels on the bigger lakes and maps and directions......Kayak Steve heading for a 100 miler on Lake Powell / Lower San Juan River (12' river waterfall-pourover) in October. For Sea Kayak training see Jen at Aqua Adventures in San Diego on Mission Bay...only extreme certified coach in the USA...but she is kind to beginers and likes to share the joy. Locally lots of us can be found after work on Cochiti Lake $30 annual launch pass is a bargain. A fun activity annually is the Paddlefest at Heron Lake in August.

You will have a great time hiking the unrestricted Open Space areas around the state. Open Space in Albuquerque could keep you busy for years. Be sure to hike to the TWA plane wreckage of 1955 along the Domingo Baca trail - awesome. Kayaking...not so much unless you can do it in ankle deep water.

Hello,

Just wanted to say exactly that - Hello : ).

I'm moving to ABQ in a couple of months and was so excited to find this forum - where I'm living now has lots of open spaces and we fill our free time with kayaking, hiking, etc... although I'm sure we'll do less water sports I can't wait to explore what the area has to offer.

Cheers,
Labradorian
