Most of the city bus routes were created decades ago,long before the city expanded beyond the river and before both I-25 and I-40 were built. That's why there's no route along Jefferson servicing the restarant and theater area near I-25,other than a rush-hour commuter route that is sparingly used(the 551). The city doesn't care about improving any routes other than Central. San Mateo needs a rapid or limited route desperately,but the city has chosen to ignore the needs of the riders. They could have simply extended the old Louisiana route from Osuna(the golf course)down to San Mateo,then along McLeod to Jefferson to service the restaraunt/hotel/theater area,but as usual,they blew it.

Why don't we have a route for the restaurant row area(I-25 and Jefferson) area? Lots of people work there and movie theater located there but only the Rail Runner stops in the area. Went to Kansas and their bus system ran along the Freeway on the frontage road. Seems to me that route would be a no brainer. Oh wait. Mayor Berry ok's the routes.

I use the bus, I ride my bike everywhere, and I like to enjoy some alcoholic beverages. Does this sound like you? I would gladly take public transportation home from the bar, but there is none late at night, or anywhere besides central avenue. Also, we need more bike lanes right? Just ranting.

I started this because I use the bus all the time and have done so for many years. I believe many aware riders have concerns about the new Mayor's negative take on transit and the transit tax and how it will be used. Though there is the 311 service and ability to make complaints currently directly at the front desk, the existing system is not very open. There was a time you could call transit directly and even speak with a supervisor if necessary, those days are long gone.

I'm not suggesting that we as riders don't file complaints, but it does not seem likely that ABQRIDE under the new administration will start an open forum on line. Maybe I will be surprised. I would rather not take that chance and be wrong. I know Duke City Fix is supposed to be a happy place and be positive about Albuquerque in general. My hope is this will be taken as an opportunity to encourage improvement in the transit system and improvement in direct and open communication with at least one sector of the administration that has a large effect an a large portion of the community.

I hope the new tranist director, Mr. Rizzieri will take to opportunity to directly comment on the postings. I also hope that people will continue to comment on general issues in the ABQ Bus Riders group on DCF and keep this for specific concerns. Please keep this constructive, positive, direct, and factual. This is not intended to be a rumor mill. If you have a complaint to post here please be sure to make a formal complaint through 311 and get a case number. Hopefully 311 won't be changed significantly. Feel free to post an actual 311 complaint number here with the description of the complaint. Leave out actual names and phone numbers.
