I'd like any suggestions on how to continue a "lasagna" vegetable garden through the winter. This is the no-till, layering strategy for building soil. I stamped down the weeds, coverd them with paper, added peat & compost and had an extremely healthy productive garden (herbs, root crops, melons, cuckes, etc.). But I haven't been able to locate info on how to continue it after the first season- so far, I'm just continuing the layer-building like I did originally: laying all the garden debris under mulching paper & covering with peat/compost.....but do I need to add minerals or something else? Given the high yields, this just seems too simple to replenish the soil. Thoughts?

My husband and I rent in the Old Town area. We are trying grow tomatoes and peppers in 5 gal. buckets. So far the are doing well. But I am also intersted in very small scale composting to support our container gardening experiement! Any suggestions?

Born and raised in ABQ we are carrying on the Urban Farming tradition in our tiny backyard in NYC. Pole beans, spinach, arugula, lettuce and anything else that grows with only a few hours of sunlight/day. Gotta love it!

I have a huge clump of catnip in my backyard. Cat died, so I'm going to plant mint (go mojitos). Anyone want it? I guess there's about a square foot of it back there, pretty established.

Farmers and supporters: Check out "replies" to the announcment of the GMO Conference above, OR my personal Blog, for an in depth reporting of the conference. The small farmers and possibly the entire Green Chili economy is in potential danger if GMO's are not kept in-check in New Mexico.
