Ok... does anyone know anything about...
my dad is elderly, fairly feeble, walks with a cane or walker, can't have a dog (which he wants terribly) because a large dog would topple him over, he does not have the strength or stamina to walk it and even with a small dog, he cannot have the wherewithall (look it up!) to cope...'he does not care about much in life, but he LOVES little dogs. I was thinking about the Humane Assoc. and other groups with animals waiting for adoption, could he be a visitor to the facility, that the staff brings small dogs out to for lite visits? Anyone have any ideas... he has finally expressed interest in doing something like this! A huge step for him...

I'm an AmeriCorps member serving with Rebuilding Together Albuquerque. We're a 15 year-old nonprofit org that helps low-income, elderly, or disabled homeowners by providing free re-habs so they can age in place, safely and warmly.

We're doing a community outreach event today (Thursday, Sep 10) and tomorrow (Fri, Sep 11) based at the Hardwood Art Center on 7th and Mountain. I'll be there from about 12:30 to 5 both days (possible later on Friday). Please come by to find out what we're about and help us by handing out energy conservation info bags to the surrounding community.

Free T-Shirts for all!

Check this out for contact info - or just ask me any questions through here.

I volunteer for PACA/AAR = People's Anti-Cruelty Association/Albuquerque Animal Rescue, which is a no-kill, all volunteer organization. We need [serious] volunteers to both adopt out pets and to foster them. Cats or dogs, take your pick! Contact me if you're interested in either one!

StandUp For Kids is a national organization looking to help homeless and at-risk teens and kids. The Albuquerque chapter is just getting started and we can use any and all help. Check out the info here. The info isn't completely updated but feel free to check out what's going on around the country.

Thanks!
Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce Comment by Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce on January 16, 2009 at 8:11am
Hi everyone,
I just want to encourage all of the businesses in Albuquerque to join the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce's L.O.B.O. Program (Leaders of Business Outreach) as a mentor to UNM student athletes. The Chamber and Lobo Athletics is partnered up in preparing student athletes for a successful entrance into the workforce. Lobo student athletes are known for their skill, their discipline, and their determination both on the field and in the classroom, it is no great leap to foresee the contributions student athletes can make to the workforce upon their graduation.

This program focuses on networking skills, etiquette, resumes and cover letters, industry overviews, and interview techniques among others for the UNM athletes. As a mentor, you would meet UNM athletes at 3-4 events per year and guide them through as they exit school and enter into the workforce. Additionally, you would assist with recruiting other members of the business community to serve as mentors to these students. Please send me an email if you or the company you work for is a member of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and would like to be a UNM student athlete mentor! Thank you.
