Like a classic New Mexican, I too love to go up on the rooftop to watch the fourth of July fireworks. I guess that I think I'll avoid the crowds, the noise, the traffic. But it will be cooler up there, hopefully with just a bit of breeze. I go up just before sunset; it seems like the sun takes forever to set in summer. I look around and remember I'm supposed to put more tar around the skylights, that maintenance I told myself I'd do last winter. I remember to take a cold beer (near frozen with l… Continue

Tesla Motors to stay in California

You should have seen the news out here in the Bay Area. Every channel ran the story as if it was some huge victory. That alone tells you the situation in California today. Companies are bailing from the Golden State in huge numbers. I've talked to my "finance" friends who point to the rising cost of doing business out here as the main culprit. California is notorious for treating companies as if it was a privilege for them to do business out here. Now they are trying to stop the bleeding. It is… Continue

How to Choose a School in Albuquerque

Over at the Albuquerque Livejournal community, there is an interesting thread on how to pick a school, and what determines good schools. The conversation has not quite degenerated into private vs charter vs public. Okay, that's a total lie, but I still think it's worth a look. And input, from any fixers on lj.
