Does anyone know what happened to the shopping center being built at the SE corner of University and Gibson? They were going like gangbusters for a bit. There hasn't been any activity there in months. It looks like a ghost town. Machinery and supp...

Wonderful. I really like learning something new about ABQ. I especially liked the photo of the GIs and their wives.

NO! Not the Veto Vato. Gary Johnson is way too Libertarian to be supported by the Teabagger types.

I'm liking Cafe Trang these days.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering about that sign, too. But, I think it's better to have a business there instead of an empty building.

Maybe I will. The kitchen staff di come out to apologize but in the process they lied about something that happened. It was kind of a bummer. But I am a forgiving soul, so I can re-consider.

@ Jeff. That's good to hear. I wanted to like the place but things were so bad I just couldn't.

I actually live in the neighborhood. In the immediate couple of blocks we have neighbors from Viet Nam, Guam, Mexico, Panama, Thailand, and Jamaica. We also have a number of American families of all stripes. I don't know any other neighborhoods wi...

Thanks for your comment on the blog. We came here from Portland but are more than ready for a drier climate and abundant sunshine. And thunderstorms with lightning! We've missed those!

Skippy, did I mention that I'm 6-foot-9, 210 pounds, and can slam dunk a basketball...oh, er, just kiddin'...I'm not 6-9...anyway, if Carolina wins, you can take your chump change, buy a home in Michigan, and catch the Magic Man when he comes home for his 50th NCAA hoops celebration in 2029. ;-)
Take care,

I'm going w/Michigan State, too. I pulled for Larry Bird against Magic in the NCAA, because Larry and his Indiana State team played New Mexico State home and home every year and NMSU had a team good enough to hang with them. Also, Michigan has been particularly hard hit by the depression and the auto problems and the state deserves an uplifting experience about now. Glory be, that was 1979! How flies time.

ABQSkippy,
I didn't get anything done on your interview in Walsenberg or since I got back, so now it is me apologizing for being late. I have read it and liked it.
The photograph sounds wonderful IF I am able to use photographs. The more I write the fewer photographs there will be. If there are very few photographs that won't be considered probably based on merit--but if it's a great photo it might make it on content. Does that make any sense?

The final four. I dunno but I expect Michigan state and North Carolina will be in the final two. :) lol

Trip was good, thanks. I've been as busy as the stereotypical one-armed paper hanger since I've been back however, catching up on book commitments. It was semi-stormy in Walsenberg.

It would be great to get your stuff in the next day or two. I'm going to Walsenberg, CO, to visit grandkids, and I'll be working off my laptop computer. I don't want to take a lot of paperwork so I could look thru your stuff on e-mail and prepare a Q and A interview while there, then you could look it over. Ben

who is Bob Ames?

Last week, I started receiving very lengthy emails from someone named Bob Ames. I have no idea who he is or how he got my email addy. The letters are in English and Dutch. I have tried to research this fellow, but I am not making a lot of progress. Does anyone know who he is? Are others getting emails from him?
