An Open Letter on the Wisdom of Imprisoning Errant Shopping Carts

To the person at the Albuquerque Target on Eubank that didn't corral their shopping cart: ARRRRRRRGH! In a city as windy as this one you couldn't be bothered to haul your cart five feet to its cozy little cart corral home? And instead you left it to its own device… Continue

Rise Up - The House of Bread Cometh

The first Albuquerque location of House of Bread is now open at Indian School and Carlisle near Los Poblanos Organics. I bought a loaf of honey whole wheat and tasted a bit of the Dakota Bread - yum. Check it out for yourself. Looks like it's a franchise, with local owners. In that handy little strip mall you can now get your organic vegetables, your… Continue

BOOT CAMP or DAMN YOU ROCCO!

As my way of ushering in September and a new job, I checked out Rocco Castellano's boot camp. I'd seen his column in Local iQ and read a few weeks ago that he had relocated to Albuquerque and would be conducting his boot camps here. I've been intending to check one out, but didn't make it until today. Um, so, ouch? Between exercise such the superman,… Continue

Hairless at Home Depot

To the Woman Who Lost Her Hair Extensions on the floor of the Home Depot on Eubank, Thank you for making my day. When the kindly old man starting wandering around the nursery aisles with a clump of highlighted brunette fabulousness asking everyone he could find if they'd lost their hair; well I practically collapsed laughing into the vegetables. Here's hoping your hair made it back to your waiting arms safely.

Roll with Marble Brewery

I kept hearing about Marble Brewery and got a chance to check it out for myself tonight at the Local iQ B R E W O L O G Y. Check it out for yourself. Great food, cool space, sweet patio when it's not 106 degrees outside. Definitely a great addition to Albuquerque.

What NOT to Leave at Your Curb on Recycling Day

Dear Fringecrest Neighbor, Recycling is important to our community. As is getting a brand new flat-screen-Vizeo-plasmatic-97-inch-TV so you can watch local programming in high-def. However, when you leave your hugenormous new TV box outside on recycling day for the entire world to see, you're just asking for trouble. Perhaps your TV is too big for a burglar to even consider filching, or perhaps you have a dozen rottweilers, but in case you don't, I suggest a trip to the community recycling bi… Continue

A Lovely Albuquerque Sunday

This Sunday reminded me why this town totally rocks. Brunch at Nob Hill Bar & Grill, the Zen Garden and tulips at the Biopark and fishies at the Aquarium. Who says there's nothing to do in this town? If you are wondering, Nob Hill Bar & Grill brunch was excellent. Prime rib AND eggs benedict! and Truffles! and Mimosas! I was in heaven, and the company… Continue

The Oddest Message I've Ever Gotten on Myspace

Looking for an old friend You would have lived only with your mother, in a wooded apartment near Colorado Springs. Your mother and mine (Peggy) were friends and usually babysat for each other... This would have been in the mid eighties. If this cannot be you than I'm sorry for taking your time... Thank you, Dan -- Nope, not me, never lived in Colorado. But a wooded apartment does sound kind of nice...

Nice running into you on Saturday. Sorry my mouth was stuffed full of food, but after a long ride, there are few distractions that will keep a cyclist from "refeuling." Especially with a good Sammy Smith's.
