Profile Information

Where I Live:
Nob Hill / University
About Me:
Some people think my favorite deadly sin is Vanity, but anyone who's seen me eat knows it's Gluttony. Motors are so overrated. I have a favorite time signature, and it is 6/8. When composing an e-mail, I make a concerted effort not to start consecutive paragraphs with the same letter. I drink herbal tea, even though I know it's not technically tea and don't buy into its homeopathic properties. Everyone asks about my nickname, and I wish I could come up with a more exciting story behind it. I don't have a favorite color, I have palettes. Life is more enjoyable when you think of it as a big dress-up party. I wear my spandex bike gear at every opportunity. I kick off my shoes whenever I can, but I wear socks almost constantly. My archnemesis is the wind, and I have the medical records and scars to prove it. My lifelong goal is to put off growing up for as long as possible.
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
It's small enough that one person can make a difference, and big enough that one person can make a difference.

Life's better on two wheels

P'tit Louis Bistro opens downtown TODAY!

Posted on March 23, 2010 at 9:30am 20 Comments

If you've been by the corner of Gold and 3rd downtown anytime since January, you've probably noticed the corner shop (formerly Ooh-Aah jewelry and before that Ruby Shoesday) undergoing some major changes.

A new French bistro - "P'tit Louis" - is opening today after much anticipation. This is John Phinizy's first restaurant, and he's brought with him the brilliant… Continue

Another Bizarre Dream - the Cuyahoga River

Posted on August 3, 2009 at 2:07pm 4 Comments

5:20 AM, Monday 3-Aug-09 (reposted from my in-the-process-of-being-updated blog). Image pulled from this website.

I had a dream that I was back in Cleveland, biking in and around the Cuyahoga river valley. It was ahead of a really big ride - a century ride, a charity ride of some… Continue

The Most Peculiar Dream I Think I've Ever Had

Posted on May 22, 2008 at 3:00am 8 Comments

It's 3am, and I just had one of the strangest dreams of my life. I need to take this down before I forget it.

I was in the home of DCF's own Jason and Spring, which in this dream had a garage that opened directly onto the kitchen instead of the driveway. In this garage was a grand piano, on which the two bloggers kept a framed picture of me of which they spoke endlessly ("Oh, we had dinner by the piano last night, right next to your picture!"). I mean,… Continue

From Lewd Pictures to Loud Preachers

Has anyone else noticed the lights on in the little brown building on Constitution and Carlisle?

This is the former site of "Jack Newsom Photography," a sketchy little place that I'd never seen open in the two years I've lived here. There was always the same crummy blue jeep parked out front, though, with a cord of some sort running from the jeep to the roof of the building.

But the jalopy wasn't what always caught my eye. It was the sign, handpainted right on the stucco, in… Continue

That's right.  Then again, I just came back from D.C. where the cyclists on the paths are pretty aggressive.  I almost wanted to ride on the streets where the cars gave me a modicum of respect.  I particularly enjoyed the porky dude who barreled past me on the Mount Vernon bike path in a highly congested area (at the end of the National airport runway, where families gather, oddly enough, to picnic and have their hearing ruined by jets), screaming as if in a horror movie, "LEFT!!!"  I almost jerked to the left to see if someone was being decapitated.

Ok, Benny, you'll have to show me how you embedded that Yahuda Moon comic, I could only figure out how to link to it.  I'd have asked you in that thread, but JMG was a little upset about all the of topic posts.

I think you are right. Tocallo. I don't know why I spelled it as I did, but I really had never seen it in print. Thanks for straightening me out.
