"THanks for the tip, but Unfortunately, Vulcan is gone, and the Company that took over (LaFarge) charged me $50 for me to unload myself. Oh well.   Too bad the CIty of Albuquerque had no option for homeowners to dispose of rare items like…"

"The Marshall was one block further in, had the awesome old square concrete tubs with rock bottoms, an air stream, and various rooms for rent upstairs and down (I imagine La Palma still does).  The Blackstone has in-room tubs, a nice flagstone…"

"You only notarize it once. It's a weird document. I thought we need witnesses but evidently we did not. FYI, our neighbors changed their mind and protested the declaration after we filed so again be sure to talk to your neighbors before…"

Fuzz Bow Style

In summer of 1948 a man gathered some friends, a carpenter, and some blueprints. In the following months he erected a beautiful home in the SE Heights of Albuquerque. Years went by, deeds transferred, and finally in late 2006 my wife and I bought his house. It was in bad shape, but we had the time and energy to bring it back to life- and we did, one project after another, restoring its original charm while adding a few conveniences. This December the… Continue

The Benefits of Membership: ArtEdge

With each passing week it's getting colder outside, and that's been driving me inside more frequently. Bike rides and walks have given way to a gym membership. Working on the yard has given way to working on the plaster. Recreation outside my doorstep is imperative. That's why it's time to renew my Albuquerque Museum… Continue

Wednesday, November 25: The paperwork is done and the data is in: Adding a PV system is a good investment. If you've read Part 1 and Part 2 and are considering doing it yourself, this entry may be quite useful: It's all about paperwork and production. I'm not sure what to put in as images, but feel free to holler if you'd like… Continue

Biking to the Balloon Fiesta

Posted on October 7, 2009 at 1:04pm 16 Comments

This Saturday I made my first trek to the Balloon Fiesta by bicycle. From Fringecrest, it took 50 minutes to get there, 45 to come back and I've never enjoyed the event so much as I did this time. While others were cold and in long lines for coffee, I was warm, energized, and ready to enjoy. The coolest thing: Valet parking for bicycles. Just head up the North Diversion channel, turn right at the sign, and hand your bike over to the valet. No charge.… Continue
