Running Away

Running awayI am running todayRunning away into that 10 minutes from nowInstead of 10 minutes into yesterdayTo start all over again on steady groundWhere it only mattered that I gave a damnWhere I don’t sit and pick through moments in my clouded headMoments that rose with the sun, which now lay dying in the nightKissing my now too tired eyes, as I crave sleep and more sleepWhile my heart becomes encased in brick just so I can dry my eyesFeeling the winding down of my heart, as it aches one last…See More

Black Bird

Within one tear, is a lady waitingHead down, sitting still with thoughtsClouding the mind, making her blindHands placed upon her lap, stillHer heart beats beyond the wallsWhere possibility use to resideIt reached but came up empty insideShe can’t help as thoughts cross her mindThat perhaps someone is waiting for herBeyond the dark curtains of the nightShe dares to place her feet on dreamsThat maybe this world isn’t so bad at allLifting her chin, sweep of the handJust to gently wipe away the…See More

Substance

Is there any substance

To what we have to say?

Where do we lay value in our expression

In what we see, in what we do?

Where do place the value of a day?

While we write about nothing and everything...

What about that copper penny

Is it not worth our thoughts?

Tarnished, scarred, abandoned

It was worth something once

It use to be in someone’s pocket

Did their fingers trace the edges

Or stroke… Continue

My foundation curved and carved

The power of your soul embedded

Flooding through my veins, out my eyes

Till perception was changed

White Strain

Nothing good

Will come of this

As I sit at the half way point of

Tomorrow and old and gray

I brush back my thick brown hair

Little white strands sticking

Sticking…sticking out

I think I can name every single one of those strands

From countless nights I spent

Snot rag in tow blowing my damn nose

Because…

My heart misbehaved…again

Or from those damn bills that pile up every month

And I lose my… Continue
