"You could always borrow a rooster for a month and let one of the hens raise some chicks, that's one way to a) keep the peace and b) minimize the exposure to parasites and diseases that new birds may arrive with."

adding new chickens to flock

Hi, I want to add one or preferably two hens to my small flock of 3. They are a year old and each lay 5 eggs a week (LOVE it). I so enjoy them and have heard it's difficult to increase the flock. Do chickens groom each other?

Hi, everyone. We were watching one chicken lightly peck at another hen's neck area while she stood completely still. The hen standing so still is usually the dominant one of the 4. Is this something they do? Or could there be a problem, mites?, or something else I should be concerned about. Any advice or thots on this is appreciated.Thanks.See More
