Today will go down in history as a monumental victory for GLBTQ Rights. To those of you who participated in making this a reality in whatever form, I thank you. We should all take great pride in what has been accomplished; it is a major milestone in our quest to achieve equal rights and recognition as Americans and as human beings. This is cause for celebration and a great way to cap off 2010!!!! See More
With the margins in some of the senatorial and gubernatorial races being razor thin, it is critical that we get out and vote for the candidates who have our best interests at heart. Following is a link to the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) endorsed candidates. In New Mexico, it's Diane Denish for governor. Please forward this message to your friends, relatives, and coworkers who are on our side!! Thank you!!…See More
"Thanks for this insight, Vince. Isn't it ironic, even comical though, that just to the right of the website you directed us to is a link to a newsflash entitled "Russian Billionaire Wants All Gays Killed." If you have even the…"
"I'm guessing that each of these churches has a website that can be easily found by Googling the name of the church. If their websites don't make any reference to being welcoming of GLBTQ individuals in particular or "diversity"…"
"From looking at the website its up to the particular church/minister to list themselves. Maybe St. John's ministry team doesn't know about the website.
Equally, being raised Catholic I was surprised to find any Roman Catholic church…"
"This is the list from that toddster mentioned:
Disclaimer: Churches below are listed as welcoming on the website but its important to realize that welcoming can mean anything from "DADT" to "yes, we'll do your wedding…"
"Thanks for bringing this up. I'd like to call people's attention to the list on gaychurch.org, which lists 18 gay-affirming churches in Albuquerque, including Friends, Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian, and Roman Catholic congregations. I…"
"Thanks again, Chuck. I replied to your other message and hope you got it.
I'm just curious, if you've ever attended the MCC church in ABQ, in what way(s) did you find it different than First Congo.......your own observations, of course.…"
Thank you for your nice note about First Congo (as I call it). I have been a member for over 2 years and have really found it home. It is a very welcoming place and has afforded me the opportunity to be a part of a caring and open community.…"
"Thanks, Vince!! I sent Chuck a message and hope to say hi to him next time I see him in church. Regards, Danny
P.S. Next time I'm in ABQ, maybe we can organize a little (or big as the case may be) get-together for "members of QA"…"
"I suppose the easiest way is to go to the person's page and click on "send a message" then its a private conversation between the parties.
In this case since I know you and I know him it would be best for me to do that via send a…"
"Indeed!! Please feel free to give him/her my name (or vice versa if that's okay) so I can look for him/her in church!! BTW, what is (or should be) our policy about sharing personal contact information with one another through QA? When we find…"
Primary residence in Minneapolis, MN & second residence in Uptown ABQ near Winrock
Professional semi-retired GWM, 60, Ph.D., originally from NYC living in the Minneapolis, MN for almost 30 years. Purchased a condo in Uptown ABQ in 2006 to get away during the cold MN winters. Have been in a monogamous relationship for 22 years. I'm trying to make some friends in ABQ to get together with when I am there. I try to get down to ABQ no less than every 30-45 days and am spending more and more time there. I love everything about ABQ, especially the climate, which is what drew me there to begin with!!
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
Climate, Natural Beauty, People, Diversity, Restaurants, Parks, Sandia Peak (& High Finance Restaurant) Proximity to Everything, Widened Interstate 40
What I'm Reading:
Nothing at the moment. Read mostly self improvement/help books and books about surviving dysfunctional families.
