White to Night

Posted on January 25, 2015 at 10:30pm 3 Comments

Late on Friday afternoon I gathered my gear together and set out for the summit of the Sandias.  I had attempted the trek the day before but a persistant cloud covered the mountain and ruined any chance for good photos.

I went in search of two things, the golden hour (more like 10 minutes at this time of year)…

The wolf in the graveyard of the volcanos

Posted on January 7, 2015 at 11:00am 0 Comments

Monday morning I was prepared for the wolf.  I didn't know exactly where it would end up, but I knew that it would be on the west side of Albuquerque, and I also knew exactly what time it would leave.

That's the great thing about moon rise / moon set tables, you can find out just when and where you need to…

Searching for the light in the Sandias

Posted on January 4, 2015 at 9:00pm 3 Comments

On my first hike of the new year I headed up to the summit of the Sandias as the last storm clouds cleared the western horizon.  I figured I just might get some good photos as the sun began to set. …

Rainbows in the Sandias

Posted on June 25, 2013 at 12:01pm 0 Comments

I suppose its as good of a time as any to finish up a project that has centered around my wanderings in the Sandias.  Cut off from the trails I've finally finished the uploading and publishing of a series of slideshows that showcase the wildflowers of the Sandias.

They come in all the colors of the…

Fellow NM Photographer!
Just a quick note to invite you to Karl Koenig's opening at the Inpost Art Space (at the Outpost Performance Space, 210 Yale SE) this coming Friday evening, 5-8. Karl is a talented photographer who makes images mostly of nature and architecture, the world round. The show will focus on his large format gumoil photographs, a process that he pioneered himself about 20 years ago. The prints are hand pigmented, resulting in amazingly vibrant photographs with a wondrous, almost catastrophic fairy tale quality. I find them highly affecting and unique.

My fellow curator Rob Thalmann and I plan to focus heavily on local photography during our 2 year term there at the Outpost, and this is just the tip of the iceberg for us. Maybe we could even do a DCF photographer's group show there?

Come see the show on the 5th!

Great photos!

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work, but please don't electrocute yourself. It would make your spouse very unhappy.
