"Oh, I forgot the apples!  Beginning in late August the Gala apples start coming in and then you wouldn't believe the volume and the varieties.  In October go South down Hwy 29 into Nelson County, and about a mile past the turn off to…"

"I moved to Albuquerque last August from rural Nelson County, VA, 30 mi. SW of C'ville.  When we went to C'ville (2-3x/week) we said we were going "to town."  We had 10 great years in the area - a lot of beautiful…"

"Senator Keller, I'm not in your district, but I appreciate your comprehensive list of propositions.  I don't claim knowledge of all the issues you seek to address, but I support those initiatives I do understand.  I especially…"

"Our current Saturday morning ritual is to go to Los Poblanos Open Space.  Love the cranes, geese, and ducks.  Not so crazy about the pigeons, but who am I to judge?"

"I second the motion for Serafin's Chile Hut.  Nice people, good food. For two bucks I can hop the Rapid Ride at Carlisle and shoot down to Presbyterian Hospital and back in a flash all aglow with that mass-transit sense of…"

"Burlington's problem is that long ago Presbyterians agreed to leave it to the Congregationalists. As for Episcopalians, at least they have real wine at communion!"

"Regarding being #68...I came west in part to escape the Bible Belt. It does occur to me that the poorest in ABQ rely heavily on faith based organizations. Food, shelter, clothing. Do we have more needy because we have religious organizations filling…"

Profile Information

Where I Live:
The edge of Nob Hill
About Me:
A southern boy drawn to the high desert to try on a new culture and new traditions and see what fits. A Presbyterian pastor looking for an authentic way of living the Jesus story that reflects more grace than gate-keeping, more intellectual curiosity about the world than fear of being somehow stained by it. A husband and father old enough to know I'm not going to set the world on fire, but still hopeful that there's a live coal in there somewhere still ready to flare up when I least expect it.
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
Big sky, green chiles, downtown murals, cultural mix, informal ways with only modest pretense.
My Website:
http://rt66church.org
What I'm Reading:
fiction and non-fiction by New Mexican authors, with New Mexican or Southwest themes.
