Hello. The sanitation workers who service my block in the Santa Fe Village neighborhood on the West Side do an excellent job and by all appearances are quite conscientious. I appreciate their service.
All right, I concede! I generalized about City workers, and I was wrong to do so. As in any group there are good and bad apples. To any who felt I insulted, I apologize, sincerely.

Many of them are in too much of a hurry, but I learned recently that sometimes there is just a misunderstanding. I was furious with my garbage man for weeks because my garbage can would only ever be half-emptied and I assumed they were rushing and...
I think it has to do with the value of the gift . A six pack of coke is probably OK, something like Lobo season tickets or a new I-pod probably not.
The key is "when they finish their route" not "when they dump every container on their route". They routinely missed three or four containers on our street every week. We called and complained and now they are diligent and get all of our container...
But it probably illegal for a city employee to take "gifts".
That's true and they also get paid for their lunch hour.

I recommend killing them with kindness. There's two people in the world that I will not piss off under ANY circumstances- the trash guy and the mailman (or women, should the case be). I know you shouldn't have to cowtow, and "their public servants...

You know, you are right, the people at 311 are very nice and very helpful. Maybe I was too hasty in my assessment. Most city employees are kind and helpful, however, the ones that are not are the ones that the rest are judged by. I know that's not...
I was thinking 311 too. BTW the 311 people are pretty awesome city employees... and the recycling people, too. I'll bite my tongue with regard to other city employees I've encountered though.

We had a great tour of Albuquerque Studios
This week the boss and I had the honor and privelage of a visit to the Albuquerque Studios, where Breaking Bad and Terminator Salvation and The Spirit (to name a few) were filmed. It was totally awesome.
