Fire in the Foothills

Posted on April 3, 2011 at 3:38pm 0 Comments

Just snapped these photos on Tramway, headed South. (Apologies for the fast-moving cell-phone snaps!)

There's a fire in the foothills near Menaul. It looked like it was going uphill, away from the houses.

As we drove past, fire trucks were responding, and a big water tanker passed us as we were getting onto the freeway.…

Differing Demographics

Posted on May 7, 2010 at 2:30pm 18 Comments

There's an interesting survey up at today, that got me thinking about how consumers of local TV and local TV websites are different than consumers of Duke City Fix.

The question is: "How often do you check your Facebook page?"

And right now, the results are clear: The majority of KRQE website visitors are not on Facebook. I wonder what the results would be here on… Continue

Spring is Already Springing in Albuquerque

Posted on February 24, 2009 at 12:07pm 6 Comments

Over on twitter,@jfleck is musing about signs of Spring in ABQ. He notes that "wintering birds are heading north," and "Bulby things coming up in my yard."

I'm noticing Spring all around, and last night I dreamed that I saw a hummingbird. (That's wishful thinking).

Here's what I've actually seen:

  • My forsythia is blooming. Started over a week ago,…

Pro's Ranch Market Grand Opening Line is Too Long

Posted on June 25, 2008 at 10:30am 3 Comments

Since I had the day off anyway, I went to the grand opening of Pro's Ranch Market. I got there 15 minutes before the opening and it was already insane! There were essentially no parking spots anywhere (and it is a HUGE parking lot). Then the line went all the way from the doors through some back-and-forth disneyland/airport security style lines, and then… Continue

A Sneak Peak at Pro's Ranch Market

Posted on June 24, 2008 at 10:30pm 15 Comments

Tonight Eck, the Grumbeckle, and I attended the Pro's Ranch Market pre-grand-opening celebration.

We were greeted by a crowd of eager neighbors, vendors, and local VIPs, waiting to get in the front door. Among them were politicians including City Councilor Ken Sanchez, State Representative Mo Maestas, and Alan Armijo, former City Councilor and current County… Continue

Hi... don't mean to put you all on the spot.. but was snooping around some old posts about gardening when I ran across one you two wrote way back when in 2007(?) maybe 2006. You all were re-working the back yard with grass, wild flowers etc... (hilarious post by the way).. and I was just wondering.. 3 years(?) how's it look ? Would (errr.. might) make a great follow-up post.
Anyhow, thanks for the original.. made me laugh !

Greetings Don Schrader Fans and Friends!

Have you noticed that for the last few days we have been a "featured group"? See:

I do not know how long it will last, but now would be a fitting time to share your Don Schrader stories by starting a new thread or responding to one that I got going.

I for one am hungry for Schrader stories.

Be Well.
