I finally made it in here this week. We really enjoyed our visit and will be back! Portions are small, but most things are less than $5, so it feels like the portion size is appropriate. I had the Domino Arepa, and my husband had the Cachapas with...

The grass is much nicer than when it used to be on dirt. Real bathrooms would be a big plus. Pedestrian walkways into the park from parking and bust stops are really crappy and even dangerous. There are never enough tables to eat your big sloppy b...

man- the Journal's had a bunch of typos lately. I read the morning paper as a ritual- and lately, I've been seeing 3-4 typos per edition, at least, which seems like a spike to me.

I went solo today and I have to say that it was absolutely fabulous! I lived in Venezuela when I was 15 and it was exactly as I had remembered it- The arepas and the plaintains. I got goosebumps eating it, and everythign was prepared to perfection...

Looks like Sitel is a "call center" where the employees take customer service calls from home. I read about this in Friedman's "The world is flat"- it's a response to the growing criticism of off-shoring "business processes" to India and elsewhere...

Stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday. They were getting ready to close as I drove up. Had the chicken salad w/ avocado arepa. It was delicious and filling! I'll be going back.

We went there for lunch today, and it was delicious. We probably ordered way too much food, but between three of us, we had: two arepas (1 chicken and 1 bean & cheese); a quesadilla; a bowl of black beans; 1 4" chicken sandwich; and two tostones (...

New Cafe Adds Latin Flavor to Mundane Near Heights Area

Up early with the baby and tired of making my own coffee, I jet with lil' sister before mamma wakes up in search of someone else's blend to start my day. I chance upon a new joint in one of Burque's ubiquitous strip malls- you guessed it, along San Mateo. To my surprise, I discove… Continue

NW Loop Road: Taking Us for a Ride

The infamous Northwest Loop road is back on the minds of engineers, developers and politicians in the metro region. The NM Dept. of Transportation sent a letter to area stakeholders announcing a public… Continue

Buyer Beware - Sprawl's Dying Gasps

More evidence of sprawl’s decline is showing up around the country in stories like those listed below. The market is validating what we’ve been saying for a long time: “sprawl doesn’t pay.” Long after the developer has reaped the profits from turning open space into rooftops, the h… Continue

There Will Be Blood, SunCal Style

For me, great movies stick in my head for weeks after I've seen them. I like to chew on them for a while in my head to fully digest the themes and underlying meaning. There Will Be Blood, starring Daniel Day Lewis, falls into that category. It's a profound saga of family and greed centered on one man's search for oil in the American west, and I've been chewing on it for a couple of months now.

I recently carved new meaning from the movie w… Continue

Thanks for your interest in BikeABQ. I didn't want to sully the thread with shameless plugs, so:
Bike to Work Day usually happens on the 3rd Friday in May, so you're 11 months early for the 2010 BTWD!

Also, BikeABQ is meeting tonight at 7pm at Smith Brasher Hall on CNM's campus (Coal and University). Feel free to stop by.

Thanks again for providing the insights - we need to be getting ready for the end of oil. Instead of more roads, pour that money into mass transit! I can't believe that the Bailout has so much going to Highways. Our state legislators need to be far thinking and ask Obama to switch it to mass transit. Anything like this being talked about?

Hey Gabe - you're right, I've seen a lot of interesting ABQ development. You probably don't recognize me in my goofy photo, but you and I worked on John Hooker's campaign together... Glad to hear you're at 1000 Friends... Assuming you are still in the offices at the FS, we are both working downtown and I ought to give a call for lunch sometime - interested?
