The Cult of Coronado (the Wiener)

Whether you’re a Burqueño, a Northeast Heightseño or a Nob Hilleño, you know it. I know it. Coronado Wieners are where it’s at…wherever that may be. They’re the bomb…and the packaging looks like one too--like a case of dynamite from a loony western cartoon.

I once debated with mysel… Continue

Why I Love a Particular Albuquerque McDonald's

I love the sound of New Mexico Spanish. For me, it’s like a warm blanket.

The sound of it reminds me of my grandmother's tiny kitchen up north. She can ramble on, mixing Spanish words with English with ease as her hands turn white with flour over the stove. Then, of course, ther… Continue

Being Nosy High Above Albuquerque

You can't escape it. The technology is high above our heads floating in space. Today anybody with a computer has access to the peering eyes of satellites thanks to Google Maps and its satellite function. Through the images, you can reall… Continue

I don't know what to say about this photo (good thing dogs are colorblind).

Breaking Bad: TV Show shot/based in Albuquerque has me hooked.

Last night I saw a preview of a show that had shots of Albuquerque, so I knew I had to tune in to check it out. After watching one episode of Breaking Bad (AMC Channel), I'm hooked.

The show is about an Albuquerque chemistry teacher who decides to cook meth to support his family after learning he has cancer. It's a dark comedy that is amusing to watch as familiar Albuquerque scenes appear throughout the show.

The acting is good and the… Continue

How's it going Jeremy. It's been ages since I've heard from you. I'm back in LA now. I enjoyed my time in ABQ in September and did so much there. I hiked the volcanoes, hiked across Sandia Crest, ate at good restaurants, strolled through downtown, Old Town, and Nob Hill. Try the French restaurant called La Provence in Nob Hill. It's great!!! I also jogged while there on the Bosque and along Tramway. I'm going to run my first marathon in February...the LA Marathon. I hope you are doing well. Hope to hear back from you.

Jeremy, I thought you'd find this video interesting and alarming. Not sure if you guys have touched on this in your reporting but it would make for a good story...

Hi Jeremny - The barber shop on 4th Street sells those stickers, or they used to sell them. I keep meaning to stop by and pick one up. Thanks for the reminder!

Hi - just wanted to say that I appreciate your website and blog. With the limitations of soundbites and television time constraints, it is nice to see an attempt to fill in the gaps, giving us readers a chance to learn more about the story behind the story.
