You should check out Clearly Lenz, I have bought prescription glasses and sunglasses from them and their prices are way under $200. Being online, you can't test the frames to see how they look, but worth a go. Shipping to Canada took about a week.

You can find cool frames, both vintage & modern on ebay. Some of the sellers are full service eye shops that can add lenses, or you can get lenses put in locally. Downside is that you can't try them on, upside is that you can find some really good...

I'll second the rec for Drs. Babington (I see Dr. Dave Jr.). I got my glasses from them a few years ago and get compliments on them all the time. They were a bit pricey, but worth checking them out, I think.

I really like the people at Moon Optical and they have some cool frames for not a whole lot of money. However, they may not have a massive selection of trendy frames--their clientele seems to be pretty old. But the owners have good taste in frames...
