"Is river cane similar to bamboo? We live in the far north valley and there are stands trying to pop up everywhere along the irrigation ditches..its not going to stay on one side of your fence, unless you put a goat run along it.."

river cane

My partner and I are thinking about planting some river cane at our fence line for privacy. Can anyone tell me how invasive it is? Specifically, we have a 6-foot chain link fence. Will it cross the fence line eventually? I don't want to cause problems for our neighbors. We get a ton of elms along the fence and want to plant something that will compete (I know we'll still be pulling elms 'til the cows come home, but a girl can hope), but not something that will start growing in our neighbor's…See More
