I think "sincere" is a wonderful word for that very quality, like Linus and his pumpkin patch. I'll have to include a baked goodie next time I'm by there; while the teas are more my thing, for me to arrive home with a fresh blueberry muffin to bo...

Is 101 still there? We drove by the other day and didn't see it. Moved?

I once had a near-argument with a guy, who was calling the Student Ghetto "the heights." To him, any place east of the would-be flood plain of the Rio was the heights, which would include, say, everything east of Broadway or there abouts. I couldn...

Profile Information

Where I Live:
Student Ghetto
About Me:
I'm a weird combo of skinhead, freemason, and class war enthusiast.

I worked in the arts for about a decade, but recently decided to give that scene the finger. It's been a blast. I'm not going to do that stuff any more. I'm currently waiting tables again, which I really enjoy. Long term I want to work in hotels; eventually I'd like to be a concierge at a nice Albuquerque-area hotel or resort.
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
Food; views; space; my neighborhood; locals & newcomers that respect the locals

Hey Khan- I thought of you yesterday because my two youngest were commenting on how the baby octopus at the aquarium was "so cute and woogie" and then they extolled the virtues of the cuttlefish.
Hope all is well.

Harroi! We stopped by your place of work on Sunday, but alas you were elsewhere. Lovely service nonetheless, though that shake mixer thing is quite loud.
Let me know if you're up for a bicycle ride!

Who is your rep? Dede Feldman is our State Senator and she always writes back. I feel really lucky to have her represent me.

Mkay -- pick my brain anytime, for what it is worth. I love to hear myself and if someone else is listening...all the better, eh? I think a concierge is a cool job.

Hmmm...no love like Cthulu's, I mean, a mother's.
I think I need to research the Cthulic (Cthonic?) take on evolution. I'm cooking up a big display in the library about evolution for Darwin's 200th birthday in February. I want to be ready if anyone is so foolish as to demand representation of other view points.

The Alvarado Has Come Back For A Visit, So Give the Old Girl A Chance

The Albuquerque Museum recently opened a new exhibit that explores the history, style and romantic era of the Alvarado Hotel. Our own beautiful old Harvey House, right in the heart of our city, knocked down in 1970 and now kind-of memorialized by the Alvarado Transit Center, which… Continue

Tracks/Traces/Vestiges - Paintings by Deborah Donelson

Deborah Donelson has maybe been better known as a printmaker during her years here in New Mexico, but in fact she has been as much or more a creator of paintings and drawings. Indeed, Deborah's signature works on paper are individual watercolors built on frameworks of etching or gravure prints. She has had several successful shows of her prints in… Continue

(Gus) Wagner's (Farm) -- the current Center of My Life

Growing up, the fall lineup of family activities included the occasional trip out to Gus Wagner's to buy squash, corn, and (if I remember) apple cider. As a kid, I hated doing things with my family, so I hated Gus Wagner's.

But now that I'm a grownup (bonk, bonk on the head! bonk-bonk! bonk-bonk!), and these days I work in Corrales about half a mile from there. Gus Wagner's, now just called Wagner'… Continue
