Coyotes will only bother small dogs and cats, not medium or large dogs. They can be quite bold around people. Don't leave a small dog outside alone if you live in or near the foothills. I think dogs should always be on a leash, even when hiking, u...

I moved here after 15 years in Portland and Seattle, long time ago. Biggest changes: we rarely muddy paws to wipe off, no shade. The heat and strong sun are things to watch out for. Paws can burn on hot sidewalks/streets. Most of the time, strong ...

Hi Kristin, I just came across a discussion thread from last summer on DCF about bugs in ABQ, and it's hilarious to read all the postings. If we haven't already given you the hebe-jebes... http://www.dukecityfix.com/forum/topics/1233957:Topic:13...

And no one has mentioned Barela's coffee house or El Modelo, great mexican food and at a reasonable price.

Kelley, I was not trying to straighten you out about much of anything. Everyone has their own opinions. I just didn't want the Original Poster to end up at the wrong restaurant. You are right in that there is/was a Le Cafe Miche Bistro in Paradise...

Coyotes are on the east side too. I used to see them all the time when I lived up there. But they typically won't bother larger dogs and they try to avoid humans altogether. Depending on what part of town you'll be in you might have to worry about...

That's too bad about Miche, I'd always wanted to try it...isn't the one on the westside still open though? I also enjoy Cafe Da Lat, but the food's not as humongous and cheap. I was just trying to give a good mix of expensivity (I know that's not...

There is something new moving into the old Popeye's Chicken building on Juan Tabo called Fastinos. The sign looks like a steaming mug of java, but who knows? I found the Business Information Details on cabq.gov, but no clue about what it's going t...

There is great coffee in Albuquerque. Maybe no exact replica of Stumptown, at least not yet, but I think if you are willing to venture from your neighborhood you will be pleasantly surprised. If you tip extra, they just might act pretentious for y...

GRR- This has happened to me several times (at other establishments) when I've tipped in cash when paying with a CC. I used to always tip in cash b/c as a former server, well lets just say it's financially advantageous to not have all your tips on...

I got my dog Scout from the East Side Shelter in July, 2003, about a year and a half after moving to Albuquerque from Chicago. He's a 27 lb pug-lab mix, and was two years old when I adopted him. Very few fleas and ticks around here--not a problem....

A good list Kelley, but I have a few points to add. The Mediterranean place on Eubank and Constitution is named Cafe IstanbuI and is is good and cheap but very crowded at lunchtime, try to get there early or late. Le Cafe Miche is long gone - clo...

The second Il Vicino is on Juan Tabo and Montgomery, not Wyoming. Unfortunately, you're right about the chains, but there are some diamonds in the rough so to speak in ABQ.

I like Napoli coffee, it's on Carlisle near the walmart north of menaul. There's a Weck's (great hangover food, try the papas) up close to you Juan Tabo south of Constitution. The coffee there is fairly decent. Mostly breakfast and lunch. Pizza ...

I have a friend who goes to the Eubank Animal Clinic, and it's just north of Constitution. Her dog has had multiple surgeries to fix a broken leg there, and she loves them. However, I've heard they're kind of expensive. Another one that isn't too...

Joe replied to Kristin Ford's discussion 'ABQ dog advice?' in the group ABQ Dogs
be careful whom you take dog advice from. the best deterrent is to be aware of your surroundings, train your dog under very high distraction, train your dog to look or check w/ you by eye contact. abq is 5000ft above sea level, there is 5000 less...
