"I set mine on a timer to water at midnight, so the water isn't too hot. If it's too hot the water can kill the plants from the inside out. At least that's what a farmer friend told me."

"I do mine directly over the garden, but in strips. As the sun moves it the shadow of the cloth will move as well, it creates a nice even shade for all your plants. You can simply go to home depot and ask for shade cloth. This is not a name brand…"

"Maybe not for this year, but next year I would throw in some large sunflower seeds. The grow quickly and do a great job providing shade to seedlings."

"I'd be willing to give him to the right home for free. He hasn't started crowing yet, although I did hear him try for the first time this morning. He is 5 months old, so maybe still to young to know how."

Loving Rooster Needs New Home

For the first time this spring I raised chicks and it was great. Well, until the other day when I finally had to admit to myself that one of my "hens" was a rooster. It wouldn't been a big deal, but I already have a rooster and my hens can't handle another. I'm not sure what type of rooster he is. He was hand raised, which means he doesn't mind being held and is non-aggressive. I would love to see him go to a good home, rather than be slaughtered. Message me if you're interested.…See More
