A Visit to the Star Axis

Posted on August 23, 2009 at 10:04pm 4 Comments

Saturday, August 21st, my wife and I made a group trip with a number of other people to the Star Axis in northeast New Mexico. The trip was arranged and led by the Contemporary Art Society of Albuquerque as part of the Land/Art New Mexico exhibitions, and about 2 dozen people caravanned by car out of Albuquerque at 8:15 or so in the morning, after we all signed papers waiving our right… Continue

As a runner, I cringe when I see runners doing certain behaviors that might be harmful to themselves. As I was walking the dog this morning, a runner passed me and I had to hold myself back from giving her unwanted advice. But as I was coming into the house, I had a thought -- why shouldn't I give unwanted advice since I'll feel better for putting it out there and it might just save a runner's life or at least some of their physical well-being.

The advice comes in two parts. First,… Continue

A few weeks ago I posted about my day at the administrative hearing I requested after I got ticketed at a red-light camera at Lomas and Eubank. The administrator of the hearing upheld the verdict, and I had a choice: either pay the $100 fine or do community service. The administrator sincerely hoped that each of us requesting a hearing would choose community service, and so I did. Not only did I want to do something for the city,… Continue

My Day in (Traffic) Court

Posted on March 28, 2008 at 10:11am 33 Comments

On Christmas Eve, I did a stupid thing. I was making a left turn at a photo-stop intersection, was behind a car that had a higher profile than I did and when the car turned out of my line of sight, realized that I was going to go through the red. Either that, or slam on my brakes not knowing what was behind me (turns out from the pictures an SUV). I went through, and about 7 days later received my red-light camera fine in the mail.

I… Continue
