Hey Margo, I saw the message you sent to the Route 66 group asking about nearby markets.

The only proper supermarket I know of in the Downtown area is the Lowe's at 11th and Lomas. There are some small specialty markets in the Downtown area, but that Lowe's is the only full-service market I'm aware of in the area.

Margo - tell Skitter hello from me (and Molly). Molly is a whopping 7 pounds. But she is a great kitty.

When my wife and I started looking at getting out of expensive California I wasn't thinking that Albuquerque would be an option. After all, my family moved away back in 1978 because of the job market. But thankfully my wife wondered why Albuquerque was not on the list. That was back in 2000 and we'll be in town in January of 2011 (there are some retirement benefits and other things my wife can't walk away from at this time or we would go now).

I was in town back in October. It is so hard coming back to California after each trip. I slow down and start getting used to everything after 10 days. Then during the flight back to California I can only think about the next time I'll be back in Albuquerque. I am only in California because of my wife's absolutely wonderful job (and Molly - ha ha).

I spent an afternoon in Manhattan once and some business trips in Boston. The pace out there is as fast or faster than in the SF Bay Area. It's a killer pace. It makes you old fast. I know what you mean about getting out of the east coast mentality/pace. I can't wait to get out of that pace permanently!

Have a great Christmas and be sure to stop and smell the pinon smoke...........

Profile Information

Where I Live:
Northeast ABQ, but looking to move downtown or Southwest
About Me:
My husband and I moved here from Cambridge, MA. last March. Luckily. we know a couple who live here who are very good friends. But we do want to expand our social life.
Both of us were born in NYC and lived there for a good portion of our lives. I teach exercise and dance and my husband is a social worker. We would love to explore this beautiful state and enjoy what the city has to offer.
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
The Sandia, the Rio Grande, the incredible skies and sunsets... and the slower pace of life.
Relationship Status:
Married
What I'm Reading:
I just finished Animal Dreams and The Invisible Circus. Recommend them both.
What I'm Listening To:
I spend most of my listening time searching for new music to use in the movement form I teach, which is called Nia. It combines dance, martial and healing arts into an expressive cardiovascular workout. I listen mostly to the world, electronic, dance, R and B and hip hop that inspires me to move, hoping that what moves me will move my students
