Not really. It goes to state of mind (and business.) The little things quickly add up when you're presenting your business (and you're presenting it all the time, rather you realize it or not.)

"thining" - heh, Crosscut?I can always see othe'rs typos, never mien. ;-) That said, how much would it have cost to redo the line? As it is, it looks sloppy - makes me wonder where else they're sloppy (hygiene at the deli?) (I think the market r...

Sigh. The good news is that anyone can throw up a web site these days. The bad news is that anyone can "throw up" a web site these days. I believe Albuquerque could support a quality news site. We've already got enough tabloid stuff available on ...

Some quick food for thought for those of you who think of Uptown as an "abomination". As you scoot by to drive to the far north TJ's...maybe you could lower your carbon footprint by going to the Uptown TJs? (And there's always plenty of parking if...

Thanks - I keep meaning to go to Pie Town. Putting this in the road trip file. P.S. Magdalena also has a theater company that costs a whole $3.50 for live plays, written by the director Donna Todd. (London Frontier Theater). It also has a cafe wi...

I'm pretty happy to shop at Sunflower - can zip up there on Sunday a.m. and avoid the crowds. They carry locally produced dairy products and Flying E eggs from Estancia, which are always on the "SF" list. Haven't really noticed any weirdness but t...

TPS. CYA memos. Mistress of both. One reason I left Corporate America. But seriously folks, I would strongly recommend that anyone selling anything spend some time dealing with customer calls (as well as live and in person) - and that includes an...

Hi Mary,
Just wanted to say hello and I am an M.F.K. Fisher fan as well. It's rare that I find anyone who has even heard of her!

Hi Mary In reference to your post on Jen's MOW discussion I was wondering if you could tell me about your experience with Habitat and Roadrunner. I volunteer on and off at a church that feeds shut in people, but looking for something more consistent. Jen never answered my MOW question, so I assume they dont have a center near me.

Mary - hello! Wow, it's been three weeks since we got on the road and left California. Grandma's house is almost done. We estimate another two weeks and it's ready. Then we'll get NM driver's licenses and plates for the car and complete the transition. And then lunch with you - HELL YES!

We love it here. And I'll tell you more about why at lunch. The moon, stars and planets have aligned for us. Couldn't be happier. And thank god for getting us out here and at this time.

I'm making a wonderful transition to Albuquerque. You would be proud of me. I've slowed down. I don't excited when the plumber shows up 30 minutes late. I don't leave an hour before I'm schedule to be somewhere. I'm slowing down and enjoying life. Even more scary is realizing the pace I operated at while in California. Can you say "could have been dead in your work cube at that pace..." Wow. What an eye opener for both Pam and I.

So, regardless of the crazy drivers (and they are), the dryness, etc etc.......we are so happy to be here. I'll stay in touch and we'll shoot for lunch in March?

Hi Mary - I re-read your comment about what you love about ABQ. Then I called Pam (my wife) and read it to her. We just laughed and laughed. You sound EXACTLY like us. We've talked about getting out of town in 15 minutes, 45 minutes to the middle of nowhere and playing tourist in the very areas you mentioned. What a city!!! Man. I'm sitting here at work trying to wrap things up with 3 hours to go. But I am dreaming of New Mexico.

We both can't wait to meet you! We're of the same mindset I can tell. It's an Adventure out in Nuevo Mexico!

Hi Mary. I can't make the AIBA networking event tonight, but would like to join in the future. Have you considered developing an AIBF group on Duke City Fix - or does one already exist that I could sign up with for future updates?

Thanks!

Thanks, Karin.

I'm actually a native (from the "ugly" part of the state, Hobbs ;-) - so entrapment and enchantment are in my blood. I'll definitely check out your blog and photos. Thanks!

Laura,

If you like Fussell, you should also check out John Keegan and William Manchester.

(Oh, and the rule is no more weeding time than it takes for one glass of vino!) ;-) Otherwise, the neighbors may start to talk! )

hey Mary, Loved your comment about weeding with wine. I am so going to weed-n-wine from here on out. By the way, Paul Fussell's book, The Great War and Modern Memory is a great book--had a huge impact on me when I read it in college.
