I read a posting of your from several years back about recommending a carpenter. We've got butcher block countertops that need refinishing. Does that carpenter still have your endorsement? We are looking for someone reliable who does good work. Thanks very much!
I'm not involved in architecture professionally in any way - but I am a huge fan. My wife and I would love to build our next home and have been actively thinking about what we need (and want) of space.
I do know of Perkins & Will, having looked at their work a Duke University when I was out there, and reading about the MIT technology square building. But don't know anyone who works with the firm.
Are you in Architecture?
(remind me not to sit in the front row when I do that, OK?)
Dave would have been blown away by the whole thing. It was nice to see so many old friends.
Next time poke me and say hi!
Regarding bike lights, I say the more the better. On both bikes, I have a Cateye HL-EL410 up front. It's durable and bright, and I end up recharging the batteries every two months or so. It runs about $35-40.
For my rear, I run with their TL-LD1100. This thing is monstrously bright, and has two separate rows of LEDs, so you can set one to steady and the other blinking. It stands apart from many other tail lights in that it also has LEDs on the side, for added visibility to cars on cross streets.
I don't stop there, though. I have a weakness for "guppy" lights, which can strap onto anything. I have them on my helmet, on my fork, dangling off my messenger bag, and on the back of my Xtracycle (the tubing is a particular width that most clamping mounts don't fit). Serfas makes both red and white, sold alone or in pairs for about $10 apiece.
Ride safely!
Loved reading your profile! By any chance is your memory of the Dukes (above in your profile) at the old Tingley Park across the street from the zoo? I'm hoping to talk to a few people about their experiences watching baseball at Tingley - PM me if you are interested.
