Looking for an apartment under $700

I have some friends (A family, a single mother and two teenage children) looking for a two-bedroom apartment in Albuquerque. They need it soon-- complicated family issues have them moving to Albuquerque in about a week and a half. Their max price is $700 with utilities.

Horizontal IDs?

I've been sort of confused on what's going on with horizontal and vertical IDs. I know most restaurants/bars won't let you drink if you have a vertical, but when can you get a horizontal? I'm turning 21 next week-- do I have to go to the DMV on my birthday to get a new ID if I want to drink that day?

This is one of those stories that you have to prefix with “Everyone is okay. Well, Joaquin has a black eye. But he's been putting frozen blueberries on it, and I think he's alright.”

It's late on Thursday, though it's technically early on Friday. I've got Friday off, and it's one of the last days that Kelsey's in town, so we've got a little crowd together-- five of us, buddies from high school. Kelsey, Devin, Joaquin, Zach, and… Continue

what Obama means to a girl who grew up with Bush

I'm 20.

I was born in 1988. I remember when Clinton was elected in 1992 because my mother told me that it was the first time in her life she's voted for a presidential candidate who won.

I didn't have any political awareness until late elementary school, when we had a model United Nations, and even then the only issues I knew anything about were international-- we talked about nuclear issues worldwide, Tibet, and the Iraq and Saddam Hussein.

I didn't get any… Continue

Found Balloon, Lost Balloon

Posted on August 7, 2008 at 5:02pm 7 Comments

I found a balloon on my ride home today!

It was really windy, and I was scooting home from work on Tijeras, right before it becomes MLK, and this balloon got swept up by a gust of wind and flew directly in front of my scooter. It was too good to resist-- I reached out and caught it!

I came home and grabbed my camera to take a picture of it attached to my scooter, but it blew away while I was trying to take it. Have you seen… Continue

Thanks. When I can figure out how to articulate it, I will. In the meantime, a different kind of "Nancy" game is visible on the front & back covers of Artnews Annual 34, from 1968. Maybe at the FAL?
