Profile Information

Where I Live:
Albuquerque's SW Heights
About Me:
Just a married gal living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I was born and raised here. DNHS class of '78. I also have family here. I have lived a few other places here & there (Maryland, South Dakota, Texas), now & then. But I always came back here, where my soul has been most at home.

I'm an avid amateur photographer... hope to lean more into a professional flavor in the next couple of years. I'm a writer and extremely interested in the field of Investigations. I'm currently re-examining what my life passions are. Investigations of the inner type! Funny how we sometimes sweep that under the rug for a while in life... at least until it screams to be recognized. I'm learning a lot!

I have been a hot air balloon pilot since 1982, although I generally don't fly much anymore. It's fun, but I don't like getting up that early so much anymore! My most recent hobby addition has been Amateur radio... I earned my Technican class license in November 2004. Callsign, KE5DDZ. I plan to upgrade to a General class license soon.
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
The Sandia Mountains, The Energy, The Sunrises and Sunsets, The uniqueness of the cultures, The proximity to so many great places to visit, And some very interesting parts of town that have a peronality all their own. It's like no place else I've ever traveled... A great place for a photographer, and I always have the camera with me!
My Website:
http://ke5ddz.home.comcast.net/~ke5ddz/
What I'm Reading:
As far as books... Recently was reading "The New Earth," by Eckhart Tolle. Really great so far-- but I need to finish it... I get distracted too easily!Withing the last year I recently finished "The Astonishing Power of Emotions: Let Your Feelings Be Your Guide," by Ester & Jerry Hicks. But, I have a stack of books calling to me and a correspondence course I also need to finish!! I also check in with the NM Hams network site ( http://nmhams.ning.com/ ) just to see what's going on in local amateur radio.

One of my Flickr Sets. I hope you enjoy the show.

These are some of my photos I've taken over time.

Help For a Home Flood!

Posted on January 4, 2008 at 10:55pm 1 Comment

On New Years morning, I experienced a frozen and burst pipe, resulting in a flood in my home. (Full flood story here) But I want to share with you the name of two terrific, local companies who have been helping me put it all back together! First of them is Rockefeller's Cleaning and Restoration. Even on a holiday, they have been fabulous! Fast, friendly, professional and…

Delightful Christmas!!

Posted on December 27, 2007 at 2:30pm 2 Comments

I was at my grandmother's (Nana's) house with my Mom and Don (my step-dad). We were doing the usual Christmas Eve traditions we do every year. All the gifts had been brought over the day before. That evening around 4:30pm, we arrived with most of dinner. Mom and I prepared and warmed up what was left to prepare for dinner. When dinner was ready, we all prepared our dinner plates -- buffet style. Black Forest ham, sweet potatoes with toasted marshmallows on top, fresh green beans, fruit…

So THIS is Duke City Fix...

I must thank Susan for the invite. This is a nice place you all have here. I have posted photos through Flickr to a group for Duke City Fix, but I had not been here, that I remember. Although, I have slept since then!

So... let the exploration begin! I'm still figuring out the customization options, but it's coming along. I figure even though I do have another blog elsewhere ( Paula's Butterfly Mind ), that I started back in 2005, I really…

Hey you! Thanks for the post. I've been so darned busy. But thankful that I'm out in ABQ not California. Oh my god, the stories from my friends out there - I have survivor's guilt. Seriously. My friends are in such bad positions even if they have a job out there. And they have kids. I just have a wife and a cat. We're doing fine.

The job search (for sales work) sucks. I've reduced it down to one day a week. I'm only looking for jobs (sales or not) that pay more than California's unemployment amount and that's hard right now (37,000+). So, I'm doing some things on the side and hoping they pay off. My wife is looking for full or part time work as well. I would have drained my savings account long ago if I was in California but out here it goes alot further than I expected.

So, the plan is simple, we try to take off once or twice a month (day trip) and hustle the other weeks. I am pretty busy.

How about you? Weren't close to something new with more pay?
