Again, I must agree with MSD. Does the local art community really want to be "perceived" as a destination? Perhaps we can hire people to hang out on the street and be "perceived" as artists. When DAT first took over managing downtown and sponsored…

Thanks for the update, Wade. We really need to stop this process, right now, and direct whatever dollars were being spent on it towards something, anything else that is going to move the ball forward. From Wade's comment: Essentially, it breaks do…

Downtown Arts & Cultural District

Exciting things happening here in downtown Albuquerque! This week the Downtown Action Team brought in a Resource team to meet with several breakout groups including artists, business owners, planners, architects, educational groups, marketers, media, non profits, etc. to discuss planning of the recently state designated Downtown Arts & Cultural District. I participated in two of these breakout sessions, the gallery owners/educational groups/museums and the artists/artisans groups.

Paula I really enjoyed being at your house last weekend. Love the house, the stories about parenthood, the room full of records........it was just amazing.
The Alibi needs to do a story complete with photographs of your dads record collection.
Also, I truly think that your and Aarons idea for the trailer on the other side of town for the kids when they get to the moving out age would make a fantastic sitcom

Hi Paula. Sorry I haven't been to any of the sketch groups lately. I injured my right shoulder area on Jan 1 (translate excrutiating agony for ten days or so, and constant pain still...) and can't even get out of the house - life has been on hold ever since. (Plus, my computer went kablooey at the same time...) So, it may still be a while before I can re-enter the world. Not a fun way to start a new year. But, I didn't want you to think I was merely uninterested! Loved reading about your bald eagle moment. I have seen them at the Bosque del Apache.

Paula! And the whole Chroma Chrew,
Glad you got to see DD's show, it was really nice. She's an interesting and engaging artist! Seems like I'm hearing the word "Chroma" around a lot lately, too. Seems you guys are keeping some serious coal on that fire. I'll have to get over and check out the auction, sounds cool. Can't hit the opening, but another time. Cheers!

The juice on Ashley Todd: In late October there was a news report about a young woman who was attacked at an ATM by a large black man--she said he was enraged by the McCain bumper sticker on her car, attacked her and carved a B into her face, apparently for Barack Obama. Well, sure enough she made the whole thing up and had self-inflicted her injuries. She's being prosecuted, etc. etc. Of the many disturbing aspects of this story, perhaps the creepiest was how easily the media jumped on it and reported it without any skepticism--I remember seeing a report on it on KOB the day it came out and was amazed at how it was just reported as fact even though the story was pretty flimsy from the get-go. (One thing in particular, that she declined seeking medical attention after the attack, was all I needed to hear to know it was BS.) Read more at Huffington Post or a ton of other places.
