I'm a burlesque performer here in Albuquerque, with about two years of performing experience under my shimmy belt. It's an incredibly packed two years, with loads of local shows and national performing gigs crammed in there. I'm also the founder, director, and producer of Gilded Cage Burlesk & Varieté here in town, which is the city's most diverse burlesque company, combining the art of the tease with exceptional belly dancers, sideshow artists, singers, bands, freaks, and more for the wildest ride around!
I'm also an all-purpose artist, I live to sew when I have thescant time to do so, and I love to cook just about anything. I hoard vintage clothing and furniture, buy vintage couches at the drop of a hat, and am totally addicted to local folk art. I'm also a complete glitter whore. Really. I cannot refuse anything that sparkles and shines. It's a little freaky.
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
Eeeee. There are too many things to list!I love the green chile, naturally, but I also love the weather, the unique environment of our city, and the endless skies. Growing up in Massachusetts, the trees were so tall they blocked out so much of the sky. I adore the art here, and many of the people, like Johnny Salas who owns the best folk art store in town, Santisima. LOVE!!!!
"What am I not reading" is the shorter list. My all-time favorite re-read is "Caramba!" by the illustrious Nina Marie Martinez. Also known as the Rockabilly Girl Bible. Or Handbook. Whatever...just go read it!!!
When I'm not rereading that for the umpteenth time, I love mysteries set in the Southwest and in the Northwest, as well as vintage handbooks, guides, and whatnot.
