Transit. Why or why not?

I am just curious how many people here ride the bus and how many people don't. If you do, what do you like about it? What don't you like?If you don't ride? Why not? Also, what do you think about the…Continue

Drivers Ed?

Does anyone know if APS has a drivers Ed course? I can't seem to find any info about it and we need a cheap place for our 15 year old.

I was doing some hiking out there east of the *fire spitters and kept coming across these markers here and there.  Just curious if anyone has an idea what they're for? *volcanoes - petroglyph…Continue

Citizen Arroyo Patrol

With all the recent arroyo sexual assaults on children near or around arroyos, I was wondering if anyone knows of a group who might be interested in doing a citizen patrol of these places, especially…Continue

"Unfortunately, the Feds are only funding a BRT, so it's this or nothing.  I did notice that the ART plans don't show the Nob Hill configuration - there's going to be a lot of really pissed off merchants/drivers if the lanes are…"

"It costs me $13 for a taxi to get from San Pedro & Gibson to Uptown at 3:30 in the morning just to get to work. Probably at least $30-40+ if you live downtown. Most lower-income people don't have that $ to spend on taxis to get to their…"

"I ride the bus everyday. I have voiced my opposition to BRT at the meetings and on social media. A mistake. Everything is focused on Central,Central,Central. 45% of ridership. What about the lines that feed INTO Central? San Mateo has a heavy rider…"

"It seems that riding the bus here is extremely time-consuming, since they make so many stops. If there were more express buses, or smaller buses like you mention, that would make the bus more appealing for me."

Down the Santa Fe Trail and into Mexico: The Diary of Susan Shelby Magoffin

House of Rain by Craig Childs. Great read for anyone interested in the ancient civilizations of the southwest.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. (Which, by the way, is not at all about the Lone Ranger and Tonto fist fighting in heaven.. very disappointed, because that sounded like a good read...)

Sandia Man Cave - is or is not.

Posted on July 8, 2012 at 8:24am 3 Comments

I recently went on a hike up in the Placita's to see the famed Sandia Man Cave.  If you are not familiar with this then let me tell ya. Some dude, a student from UNM, back in the 30's found it, said there were some old bones of a Wooly Mammoth, a Giant Sloth and some ancient tools left there by some folk traveling through about 10,000 years ago.

As this has been highly debated among the intellectual science types, I won't go into detail (intellectual science types bore me)…

Today, I will walk into an Elementary School and color in some circles in an attempt to actively participate in a right that has been hard to come by for some, if not all of us. This year is different though. This year I will be voting, not for who I think is best, or who I feel will lead better, but instead, I will be setting aside my fishing pole and pick up my wife's, casting it into the deep muddy waters of the political ocean.

Why people vote the way they do is as varied as the… Continue
